I wonât fake it || Jean Kirstein x reader
Words: 2.6K
Warnings: fluff, a bit of angst, modern au, actors au, reader is shy and a bit insecure, readers appearance is never described
Summary: You and Jean have known each other for a decade now, since both of you started working as teens in a serie called Attack on Titan. During the years you developed feelings for him, but never told him afraid of breaking your friendship and afraid of his reaction. Promoting the final season, your managers came with the idea of a PR but Jean refuses, despite knowing he has done it before in the past. You hated the idea of PR but did Jean really hate the idea of ââgoing out with you, even if it was pretend?
Note: this came to me when an attack on titan actor au popped up on my feed. I donât know if I should make another part or leave it like this.
Attack on titan materialist
The series, which you have been working on for the last 10 years, was coming to an end soon. Only a few episodes were left and you were promoting it with the rest of the cast, in New York and Los Angeles.
You looked at yourself in the mirror, your hair was beautiful, the makeup was beautiful, the outfit you were wearing was beautiful, everything looked perfect. It had to be. You were about to give an interview on live television, talking about the series finale, promoting it and everything had to be just perfect.
You sighed, you were nervous it didnât matter what you did to calm yourself down. It's been over a decade since you joined the industry and you couldnât stop from getting nervous. Your leg was moving up and down, making your heels hit the floor and filling the room with the noise of your shoes.
A knock on the door made you come back to your senses, you swallowed and told to came in. In the door Jean appeared, you smiled at him, your best friend since almost the very beginning of the series.
âHey.â He approached you and left a kiss on your cheek. You hated it, not because you didnât like it, because it made you feel so much and you knew nothing was going to happen. âHow are you feeling?â He sat next to you. You grimaced, trying to make light of the matter, but you knew Jean knew you too well. âI will be right next to you, so donât worry. We are together.â You smiled faintly, Jean was always so kind to you and your heart wouldnât stop beating on your chest whenever he looked at you that way.
âThank you Jean⌠I really appreciate having you with me.â You told him and he smiled.
A staff member came in, informing you that you were about to enter the studio for the interview. Jean stood and offered his hand for you to take it. You held it and walked side by side, feeling the comfort Jean was bringing you. You were behind a door and could hear the interviewer talking and the audience applauding. Your names were called and both Jean and you entered the plate smiling and greeting everyone who was there. You sat on the couch with Jean on your left and the interviewer to your right.
âWelcome both of you.â The interviewer smiled. âHow are you both feeling? The finale is almost here, crazy isnât it?â
âYeah, itâs honestly crazy that after, what? 10 years right?â Jean joked in a flirtatious way. âBut yeah itâs been a whole rollercoaster, but one none of us wonât forget.â He said looking at you.
âEh⌠yeah, yeah itâs been a whole experience and⌠we are really thankful for the fans that have been supporting us for all those years.â You said, trying to hide your anxiety.
The interviewer nodded. âNow tell me about your characters. They are romantically involved and I think everyone can agree that your chemistry on screen is untouchable.â The public started cheering up.
You hoped no one was noticing that your whole face was heating up. If only they knew you had the biggest crush on Jean Kirstein, they would probably lose their minds and start editing every single moment where you both interacted or the moments where you were looking at him like a helpless romantic.
âI guess so, but with y/n itâs so easy. I couldnât have been luckier to have such an amazing partner to work with.â He laughed.
âYouâre just too kind, Jean.â You smiled.
âItâs the truth tho. Youâre an amazing actress and friend. And I love filming with you and spending time with you.â
âWow⌠Jean if you werenât in a relationship I would think you are hinting on y/n on live television.â The interviewer joked.
And there it was, the reminder that Jean was just your friend, your costar, nothing else. You were happy when Jean told you he was seeing someone, happy when he told you they started dating, happy when you met her. You were happy, thatâs what you always told yourself, that you were happy for him. But it wasnât true, you werenât happy, you were a coward because you had those feelings for years but you were never able to confess and then, then he was with someone else, that wasnât you.
You were selfish, you wanted to be the one holding his hand, the reason for his loving eyes, the reason why his heart raced faster, you wanted to be all that and more.
You tried to keep yourself normal, not to react to that or to what Jean said.
âWell Iâm not in a relationship anymore, itâs been over a month since I broke up with my now ex.â Jean explained, leaving you speechless. You didnât know about this, he never mentioned it. It was true that you were unable to see and talk as much as you usually did due to your busy schedules.
âThen we can say you were hinting on y/n? How do you feel about that y/n?â The interviewer asked once again.
You were starting to get nervous and somehow embarrassed for the whole situation. You wanted to stand up and run from there, but if you did that everyone would be talking about you on social media and that was making you even more anxious.
âYou know what Jimmy, I think we should go back to the main topic, talking about our series.â Jean cut him off. âBut so everyone knows, we are not Connie or Eren, you wonât be able to get a single spoiler out from us.â
As always Jean was the most natural when it came to doing interviews or talking with other people. The interviewer let the topic to the side and started asking questions about the series, what it was for you to film this final part and how you were feeling about ending it. You played a little game to entertain the audience and finally you ended saying goodbye to everyone.
You and Jean walked down the hall together with your managers, while talking about something. You didn't look at Jean, you didn't want to, you were still embarrassed by what happened a few minutes ago.
âJean, what you did out thereâŚâ He was referring to that flirt with you. âWas brilliant. Everyone is talking about it on social media.â He said showing the phone to Jean, you looked at it out of the corner of your eye and sure enough, the video of the moment was everywhere.
âJosh just leave it, okay?â Said Jean hanging the phone back to his manager.
âNo Jean, this could be a perfect opportunity for both of you.â He said pointing at you both. âI was talking to Emma while you were still at the interview and maybe doing a PR isnât that bad.â You closed your eyes and you leaned against the elevator wall.
âEmmaâŚâ You whispered.
âCâmon y/n this could be a wonderful opportunity, you will only have to act like youâre romantically involved, some photoshoots, some Instagram posts. It will be fantastic for your publicity.â She smiled holding you from the arms. You didnât want it, you didnât want to fake you had something with Jean because you knew your heart would end up broken in a million pieces.
âI wonât be doing PR with y/n.â Jean stayed not letting any of your managers talk.
âWhy Jean? This could be a great opportunity for both of you. Your ship in the show is huge, having you go from friends to lovers would beâŚâ
âNo.â Jean said harshly.
âJean, you have done this before, what's the difference?â
âNone of us need this shit, we are already both settled actors.â Jean started to walk away from leaving the elevator.
His manager started to walk behind him, while you stayed there with Emma. You felt your heart shrink in your chest, was that bad idea for him to fake date you? You hated the idea but Jean⌠Jean looked disgusted with it.
You didnât see Jean after that, he didnât contact you either and you didnât have the courage to do it. You looked at your schedule for tomorrow, you had a photoshoot in the morning and then you would be free for the rest of the day. You sat on your bed, tired of today's journey, you werenât a big fan of promotion season, you were just too introverted for it and sometimes interviewers were too much for you, they seemed not to care about what you were telling them, they just wanted the gossip and leave. And you hated that, you loved acting from a young age, it let you be someone else, escape from reality but Hollywood was another thing, another world. A world that even after all these years was hard for you to adjust to.
You fell into bed, closing your eyes, you had to sleep tomorrow, you had to get up early and you didn't want to have Emma dragging you around New York with huge circles under your eyes.
ďźăťďźďźďźăďźăďźăďźďźďźăťăăăťďź
Before you could realize the premiere for the final part was that night in New York City, you were getting ready in your apartment, your whole makeup was stunning, and your dress was just breathtaking. You couldnât believe you could look this good.
âWe will be leaving in 5.â Emma said.
âIn 5 minutes?â You opened your eyes.
âYeah, the premiere is an hour and you have to take photos on the red carpet with everyone and do some small interviews.â
âOkayâŚâ
âHey!â She said making you look at her. âIf you start to feel overwhelmed, tell me and I will take you out of there okay?â
âItâs okay Em, I think I can handle it. I will be alright.â
âThatâs my baby, I canât believe itâs been ten years since you got this role.â
âAnd you have been supporting me ever since then.â
âThatâs true.â
âThank you.â You hugged her.
âAnd by the way, Iâm so sorry for what happened with Jean and the whole PR thing, when Josh suggested I thought it would a good idea, but I fail to consider how you were going to feel about it.â
âItâs alright Em.â
âHave you talked with him?â
âWith Jean?â She nodded. âNot directly, we talked in the group chat, last thing I know is that he was in LA, for an audition or something, Iâm not really sure.â
âYou will see him tonight.â
âYeah I know but it doesnât matter Em, it was a silly conversation and all the flirting thing he did, it was for the show. Not real.â
Emma looked at you with a sad look. âHoney, I donât think it was fake.â
âEm please, donât do that, donât give me hopes for something that will never happen.â
âOkayâŚâ She looked at her phone. âOh shit, we need to leave or you will be late, câmon.â
In 10 minutes you were getting out of your car, meeting up with thousands of flashes and screams from fans. You smiled at them and started waving at everyone. You approached a group of fans to take selfies and sign posters.
âOh y/n! You look absolutely stunning! I love you so much.â You blushed at the compliment.
âThank you so much sweetheart.â You told them.
âY/n! Please sign my poster.â
âSure.â
âY/n! You and Jean would look so good together.â You heard someone say.
âThatâs right y/n!â You heard another one scream.
âThank you guys, but we are notâŚâ
You were cut by one of the team staff taking you away from them. You waved them goodbye with a sad smile, you sighed to yourself and prepared yourself to pose in front of the cameras. You heard paparazzi scream your name, telling you to look to one side, to another side. You started to feel anxious and feel your sweaty hands, the whole flashes were making you dizzy. You felt someone, holding you from the waist making you jump a little. Looking up, you saw a very familiar tall person next to you. Jean was there, smiling.
âJeanâŚâ You whispered.
âHello gorgeous, you look beautiful.â He whispered to you.
You smiled to the floor. Stupid Jean. He held your hand, making it so natural, so effortless and easy. He took you out of there, you still heard the screams and the sound of flashes behind both of you. Jean started saluting everyone around without letting your hand go. You were feeling nervous, probably Jean was noticing that you were sweating.
âEh⌠Jean.â You told him, he turned to look at you.
âMhm?â He tilted his head and you looked down to your hands. âOhâŚâ He said. âY/n, I need to talk with you.â Jean spoke once again. He was looking at you. âCome with me please.â And walked off with you.
You looked at his big back, he kept walking until a small room far away from the people. He let your hand go and you held both of your hands together, looking down, nervous.
âY/n can you look at me.â He whispered.
âWhat happened Jean?â You faintly smiled at him.
âListen, I know, I know it must be confusing my actitud tonight, all this thing of holding hands and the âshowâ out there butâŚâ
âYou ended up agreeing to the PR thing?â You smiled.
âNo I didnât, I told Josh that I was not going to do PR with you.â
âWhy? Is that a bad idea to do PR with me?â
âNo⌠is just.â
âYou have done PR before, I donât understand why you wouldn't want to.â
Jean breathed. âBecause I wouldnât be able to do it.â
âOh⌠I understand.â You bite your lip.
âI think youâre not understanding y/n.â He held your face. âI wouldnât be able to fake anything with you because every single thing I would do, every single word, every single look, would be true.â
You swallowed looking at his eyes. True? It wouldnât be fake?
âWhatâŚ?â
âY/n, I like you. I have liked you for a while now⌠I was a dick for not realizing my feelings before.â
âI⌠Jean.â
âY/n, I know, I have known for a while and Iâm sorry, Iâm sorry for hurting you.â He hugged you and you closed your eyes and smelling his aroma.
âItâs okay Jean⌠but are you for real?â You broke the hug.
âYes, every single thing I said itâs real. I donât want to fake anything with you, I want this to be real.â He said once again looking at your eyes. âThatâs why, I want to take you out on a date.â
âA date?â
âMhm.â He smirked. âYou know we could sneak out and I could take you out on a fast date.â
âJean⌠this is our last premiere, we canât.â He pouted, which made you smiled.
âYouâre right babe. Our last time, I will miss working with you on screenâŚâ
âMaybe we can work together again, donât worry.â You smiled.
âHopefully but only as your romantic interest.â He kissed your cheek. âNow letâs go before they start to be suspicious and I donât want Eren to start bothering us with his nonsense.â He held your hands once again but you stopped him.
Jean turned around and looked at you. With all the courage in the world you held his face and kissed him. Jean at first was surprised but he instantly kissed you back, tangling his fingers in your hair and increasing the kiss. The kiss finished when you both heard the door being opened. You hide yourself behind Jean, feeling your face burning up.
âSo you two are here?â Emma was standing there, you avoided her gaze. âEveryone was looking for you, so you better get your asses back there.â
Both of you nodded and started walking next to Emma, not letting each other's hands go. Emma nudged you and smiled at you, you looked down and got closer to Jean, he smiled at your shyness and placed a kiss on your hair.

Jean Kirstein's Big Bisexual Adventure [Jean Kirstein x male!OC]
Basically: Set during the 4 year time skip - Jean starts to notice his attraction to his male comrades so he goes to a friend for some... assistance. Of the sexual variety. He gets fucked in the ass is what I'm trying to say.
Written for my friend ploams for their birthday using their OC, Logan Cole, and written with permission!
[also on Ao3]
Rating: M, word count: 5,167 - no warnings, it's a comedy
For the record, Jean Kirstein was NOT a virgin.
He'd had sex. Casual sex (but still sex!)Â a few times over the years.
He was in the military for god's sake, all that pent-up frustration had to go SOMEWHERE.
So yeah, Jean Kirstein had had sex before.
With girls.
And that's what he had been pretty stuck on lately.
Girls.
He liked girls, don't get him wrong. They were pretty, they smelled good, and he liked when he could make them laugh. Girls were soft. With soft lips and soft thighs and soft-
Tits.
Boobs.
Badonkadonks, if you will.
Jean liked soft. And Jean liked girls.
HOWEVER-Â
Lately, he had been wondering if maybe he liked more thanâŚÂ just girls.
â...fuckâŚâ He muttered to himself, just under his breath, as he caught himself staring at the way Armin was nibbling at the end of his pencil. A warm heat rushed over his body as he watched his friend's lips curl softly around it. Teeth nibbling, just slightly, at the eraser, and his tongue darted out for a split second to run across his bottom lip once he pulled it away.Â
Armin was paying attention to the meeting, which is what Jean should have also been doing. Instead of that, Jean was⌠wellâŚ
Jean was balls deep in the most painfully awkward bisexuality crisis any human being living or dead had ever experienced and he knew for a fact that it was slowly killing him more and more with every agonizingly slow second that passed.
So⌠the meeting wasn't really that important right now.Â
((It was very important))
What was important was his crisis .
((a crisis he should have been focusing on in his free time instead of-))
Lately, he'd caught his eyes wonderingâŚ
((-alright fine I guess the internal monologue is just gonna keep going.))
âŚnot just over girls but also guys as well.Â
The way Armin fiddled with the corners of the papers in front of him, blunt fingernails twirling together in a way that wasnât meant to mean anything, but still left something fluttering in the pit of his stomach as he wondered what those fingers would feel like dancing across his skin instead.
When Eren-Â
and honestly, why the fuck did it have to be Eren of all people!?
But anyway: when Eren would stretch his arms over his head and his shirt would ride up enough to show off his midriff and his perfectly trimmed happy trail (that asshole had to manscape right?? No way that fade was natural).
He even caught himself checking out Connie in the showers which, to Jean, was a new personal low because how dare Connie be as jacked as he was with a face like his!
Jean had tried fucking these feelings away. Figuring that maybe he was just horny and that was why these weird thoughts kept coming to mind.
He'd gone out. Met a cute girl (See? He could pull!). Headed to her place and gone to pound town.
But still, there he was, in a stupid meeting about something-something-undercover-in-Marley-blah-blah-blah-Â
((Jean for the love of God pay attention))
-focusing more on Armin's fingers and Erenâs midriff and Connieâs arms than Hange's excited rambling about the railroad.
âŚfuck .
LITERALLY!!
So- shoving his feelings into the back of his mind did absolutely nothing, and screwing his feelings out yielded similar results.
Which is how Jean ended up here: In crisis.Â
((As previously discussed via 566 words of painfully repetitive exposition.))
Jean was seriously fucked though. Or- or not fucked? Honestly, he was just getting more and more confused by the secon-
âSomething on the mind, Lover Boy?âÂ
Jean jumped as he was snapped out of his thoughts. He blinked and glanced around the meeting hall, only then realizing that he'd missed Hange's dismissal of the meeting.
All around him people were packing up their things (Armin), idly chatting about their plans for the evening (Eren), or booking it out of the room to use the bathroom because they'd been holding it the whole time (Connie).Â
Everyone exceptâŚ
âNothingâŚâ Jean replied to Logan. He scowled as he quickly stood up and began to pack up his things.Â
âRiiiiiightâŚ.â Logan leaned back in his chair as he eyed Jean up. He immediately noted the way his friendâs hands shook around his (empty) notebook. The tension in his shoulders. His furrowed eyebrows and flushed face and the way his breaths came out in quick, frustrated huffs as he stacked his papers. Really that expression could only mean one thing⌠âFeeling a little pent up there, Lover Boy?âÂ
âI- I'm-!!! Shut the hell up, Logan!â Jean hissed, face suddenly shifting to a deep crimson as he worked to pack up even faster.
Logan shrugged. âDenying it only makes it worse.â
Jean scoffed. âThen what the hell am I supposed to do to make it better.â He mumbled under his breath.
There was a pause. The kind of pause that Logan would normally fill with something sarcastic, witty, or downright obnoxious in an attempt to get under Jeanâs skin.
So when that reply never came Jean paused the gathering of his things to glance over at his comrade.Â
They held eye contact for a moment, neither of them moving a muscle, until Logan smirked as he leaned forward. He rested his elbows on the table and cupped his face in his hands, pulling himself just slightly closer to Jean. His lips curled around the words as he said them, eyes gleaming with a foreign mischievousness: âPretty sure you know the answer to that one, Jean-bo.â
Jean didn't miss the way Logan's tongue darted out against his bottom lip before he pushed out of his seat and walked away.
He remained frozen for one secondâŚ
   ...two secondsâŚ
       âŚthree secondsâŚ
And then a rush of heat ran up his spine, causing his cheeks to turn an even deeper shade of red as a fire ignited in the pit of his (possibly bisexual) stomach.
***
If Jean thought Armin and his pencil was bad.
Eren and his stretching.
Connie and his (once again shockingly) toned arms.
If he thought those thoughts were bad then Logan Cole was a goddamn catastrophe.
Jean couldn't get the way Logan had looked at him out of his head. His tongue against his lip. The way he leaned in with that stupid glint in his eyes.
â...pretty sure you know the answer to that oneâŚâÂ
Fuck.
Fuck fuck fuck fuck!Â
So thatâs why he was here: three days later and completely frozen just outside of Loganâs room.
His hand was raised, knuckles just a hairâs width away from the hardwood in front of him but still yet to make contact. He nervously chewed his bottom lip, wondering if this was a good idea at all.
âThisâ meaning: coming to Logan to clear the air and ask some-- questionsâŚ
PURELYÂ HYPOTHETICALÂ QUESTIONS, MIND YOU!
But stillâŚÂ questions.
Questions about what Logan had meant when he said Jean âknew the answer to that oneâ. When his tongue had trailed his bottom lip. When that glint in his eyes had hinted at something that Jean couldnât imagine Logan hinting at but-- the way the lighting of the meeting hall glimmered against them suggested otherwise.
So here he was: in front of Loganâs door and about to knock. About to ask his HYPOTHETICAL questions right now.
  âŚ
Any second.
          âŚ
Any moment heâd knock.
     âŚ
Heâd do it.
                  âŚ
Yep.
            âŚ
Heâd totally-
The door opened in front of him. âAre you going to knock or what?â
âWHAT THE--â Jean jumped a foot in the air as Logan snickered, leaning against the open doorway while he watched Jeanâs face shift from surprise to irritation.
Oh, also he didn't have a shirt on.
Jean blushed. âYou could wear some-- some fucking clothes you know...â He muttered.
Logan rolled his eyes and pushed off of the door frame before he turned around and walked back into his room.
Jean didn't move- unsure if he was being invited in or not.
His eyes trailed the muscles of Logan's back, noting the way the skin pulled it tight as it was dotted with three- no four- freckles placed evenly against the skin.
Fuck.
Was it getting hot in here?
Maybe Logan had a point with the shirtlessness after all.
âJean, as much as I enjoy your silent company, I actually have shit to do so if you donât have a good reason to be here can you-â
âWhatâs it like to screw another guy?â
The sudden question had even Logan pausing. âI--- what?â He asked.
âSex.â Jean elaborated (which led to no elaboration whatsoever).
âYes...â Logan answered slowly. âI gathered that.â
âSoâŚ?â
âSo what?â
âWhat do you mean what!? I asked a question.â
âAnd I donât follow that question.â
âIâM JUST CURIOUS WHAT ITâS LIKE WHEN TWO GUYS HAVE SEX WITH EACH OTHER OKAY!?!â
Picture this:
Jean. In the doorway. Bright red with his hands clenched into fists as he stared intensely at the floor in front of Loganâs feet instead of anywhere near his face.
Logan. Shirtless. Expression completely neutral as he leaned against his dresser as his eyes trailed his friend's (very tense) body.
Is the picture pretty clear? Good.
Because they stood that way for long enough that it became a little bit weird.
Eventually, the awkward moment was broken by Logan pushing away from the dresser, crossing the room, grabbing Jean by the front of his shirt and pulling him inside.Â
He immediately closed (and locked) the door behind them before he released Jeanâs shirt, hand moving to pinch the bridge of his nose as he let out a short sigh. âJean, I'm going to need you to be blunt with me about what youâre asking, because I canât follow your shy-flustered-angry act right now and I donât want to say the wrong thing.â He dropped his hand and met Jeanâs eyes.
Immediately Jeanâs heart was in his throat. âYou said that you-- that you knew what to do to make it better.â
âTo make what better, Jean?â
âIâm horny.â
âYes I gathered that much.â
âAnd Iâm horny because I-- I keep looking at-- at you know and- and girls are like- theyâre good! Donât get me wrong theyâre good but then Arminâs with his hands and Erenâs fucking pubes and then Connieâs dumb arms and like-- like-- it's- ... So Iâm-- itâs- yeah.â
Logan resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Not at what Jean was clearly trying to ask, but at his friendâs overly coy way of asking it. Then again it was pretty cute⌠and Logan had been feeling equally sexually frustrated lately (not that he was as weird about it as Jean was). A few rushed blowjobs courtesy of Floch hadnât really been enough to scratch his itch lately. Plus, being with Floch and being with Jean was going to be two different experiences. Not just because of what Jean was asking (or at least what Logan assumed Jean was asking, he was still a little unclear on that and didnât want to jump to conclusions) but also because of who they were to each other.Â
Floch was⌠an annoyance. An irritation. Good with his mouth, sure, but only when it was around Loganâs dick and not really at any other time. On the other hand, Jean was someone Logan actually cared about. Actually considered a friend.
So fucking Floch no-strings-attached and potentially hurting his feelings was one thing, but doing that with Jean was--... wellâŚ
Logan would feel pretty shitty if he hurt Jean. Maybe it was time to slip into his old role of team big brother.
((and not think too hard about the Freudian mess that turned this whole situation into))
âOkay,â Logan sighed, âtime for a talk.â He pulled Jean towards his bed and shoved him down into a sitting position before he grabbed the chair from his desk and sat down in front of Jean. âLet me get this straight-âÂ
((thereâs nothing straight about this, Logan))
â-you like women, â he continued, âbut youâve been noticing men lately too and you came to me about it because you want to⌠explore this attraction?â
âI--â Jeanâs hands clenched against the fabric of his pants as he continued to avoid eye contact, â...yeah.â
âAnd by âexplore this attractionâ ,â yes he did use air quotes, âyou mean you want me to fuck you.â
Jean scowled. âOkay well if you-- if you put it like that then it sounds- UGH!! Never mind I'll just-â He stood up to leave but Logan immediately reached out to grab his wrist to hold him back.
âCalm down, Jean. I'm not judging you.â
âYou sure sound like you're judging me!â
âThat's just the natural cadence of my voice. Sit back down.â
Jean sighed and grumbled a short: â...only if you stop being an asshole...â Before following Logan's instructions and taking a seat.
âWhy me?â Logan asked seriously.
âBecause you're--... You're the only guy I know that'sâŚÂ you know.â
âI don't know.â
âYes you do.â
âNo. I don't.â Logan replied firmly. âSay it.â
âYou're--... You'reâŚâ Jean's next words came out a soft whisper, as if he was ashamed to say them: â...you're gay.â
Logan studied Jean's face, watching the way his friend's eyebrows tensed together as his cheeks remained the same shade of pink they'd turned to when he was first pulled into the room. He watched Jeanâs scowl remain there for a few seconds before the tension washed away and his eyebrows were left flat, lips slightly parted as he sucked in a breath before slowly- timidly-- hesitantly looking up at Logan like he was waiting for confirmation.
Confirmation of what Logan was.
Confirmation of what he was.
And confirmation that what that was wasnât--...wasn't wrong .
Logan took a deep breath that turned into a soft laugh on the exhale. âThere are a lot more of us out there than you think.â He offered his friend a reassuring smile.
Jean's eyes widened. âR-Really!? Who??â
âWell I'm not about to out anyone but I can think ofâŚâ Logan began to count them out in his head, âuh⌠five or six?â
âThat many!?!â Jean exclaimed.Â
Logan laughed at the look of genuine surprise splashed across Jeanâs face. âThat I know of, yeah.â
âWell damn.â Jean scoffed as a small smile spread across his face. âThen what the fuck am I sitting here asking you for?â
âI dunno Jean,â Logan asked with a playful smile as he leaned forward, âwhat are you asking me for?â
âThat's-- That's not what I meant.â
âI know,â Logan said, leaning even closer. âBut you still haven't told me.â
âI--â Jean's embarrassment was back, but the energy around them had turned less nervous and more⌠excited. âI don't need to say it. You already know.â
âHm?â Logan moved out of his seat, âdo I?â He grabbed the bunk above his, holding himself up over Jean as he looked down at him with a smirk.
âStop being such a fucking smart ass.â
âAnd what should I be doing instead?âÂ
âYou should-- you shouldâŚâ Jean's eyes darted nervously around the room from the dresser to the desk then the chair. His heart was pounding against his chest at the anxiety-laden thought of bluntly asking- just asking Logan to do what he came here to ask him to do.
God dammit.
If he didn't say it now, Jean knew he never would. Plus it wasn't like Logan was going to refuse him! Heâd made it pretty damn obvious that he was down for it. If only he'd stop acting like such a cocky bastard thoughâŚ
Well fine. Two could play at that game.
Jean confidently looked up at Logan, finally losing the flustered schoolboy coyness as he firmly said: âI want you to fuck me.â
Logan's face lit up like it was Christmas fucking morning. âAlright,â he said with a teasing flirtatiousness to it, âI think I can do that.âÂ
Logan leaned in. He curled his fingers under Jean's chin to hold him firmly in place before crashing their lips against each other.Â
Jean immediately noticed how different it felt from what he was used to. Different from girls.
Logan's lips were firm. Confident. Rough in a way that demanded his attention, as it pulled Jean out of his head, where his anxieties about the whole situation had kept him in a choke hold for days.
Jean didn't notice his eyes close.
Didn't notice the tension wash from his body.
Didn't even notice the short: âMm-â that tickled the back of his throat as Logan's tongue flicked against his bottom lip, just barely teasing Jean with the subtle contact to see how he would react if Logan pushed further.
Jean's head spun in the most pleasant way possible at the feeling of Logan sliding into bed next to him.
And then, much too soon for his liking, he pulled away.
Their lips parted but they stayed close, holding eye contact for a moment as their heavy breaths mingled between them.
âNot bad,â Logan told Jean, tracing his thumb across his friend's lower lip as his eyes followed its movement.
There was something in Logan's eyes that Jean had never seen before. It made his heart race as his whole body suddenly felt weak. He immediately became thankful that he was already sitting because he wasn't sure he could trust his legs to hold him up anymore.Â
âMaybe you should lie down,â Logan told him.
Jean's heart leapt into his throat. â...o-okay.â He stuttered before leaning back against Logan's pillows.
It didn't take long for Logan to pull off Jeanâs shirt and coax him out of his pants, despite the other man's embarrassed protests about being first.
âWhat?â Logan teased as he undid Jean's belt, âYou wanna take mine off instead, Lover Boy? How bold.âÂ
Jean replied with a frustrated grumble of: â...don't call me that when you're about to fuck meâŚâ
Despite that (and the general awkwardness that comes along with seeing someone naked in this sort of setting for the first time) Jean ended up on the floor. On his knees. Between Logan's legs.Â
He stared at Logan's half-erect dick like it was a mystery.
âHey Jean?â Logan eventually asked after several awkward moments.
â...what?â Jean mumbled.
âYou're supposed to touch it, you know.â
âI--â Jean scowled. âI'm getting thereâŚâ He mumbled before he very slowly reached out to grab the base of Logan's dick. He held it in his hand, immediately noting how foreign it looked and felt compared to his own.
âFirst time touching another guy's cock?â Logan teased, âIs it turning you on?â
âS-Shut up! And you should shave, it looks gross!!â In a fit of frustrated (yet horny) irritation, Jean quickly leaned forward. In an instant, his lips spread around Logan's dick and he pushed himself further, taking all of Logan into his mouth at once.
Logan's head fell back with a gasp as he reached up to place his hand on the back of Jean's head. Before his fingers could curl around the soft brown locks Jean violently pulled away, gagging and coughing up spit.
Logan sighed as he watched his friend hold back the urge to puke.
âMight wanna check your gag reflex before trying that one again.â Logan pointed out.
âF--â Jean coughed. âFuck off--â he wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, looking up at Logan with a glare.
âWant me to show you how it's done?â
âI know how blowjobs work! I've gotten them before!â
âHmâŚâ Logan thought out loud as he leaned back against the bed, studying the way Jean glared at him. âNot from me though.â He pulled Jean back into the bed and was on him in an instant, making a home between the other man's legs as his hand wrapped around the base of his cock. He didn't hesitate before running his tongue from the base to the tip, just to feel Jean squirm against the mattress as a shiver ran up his spine.
âStill don't want me to~?â Logan teased.
âYou're such a fucking--...â
Logan ran his tongue across the head of Jean's dick, licking up the bead of precum that had gathered against it. âI'm a what?â He asked.
Jean hesitated before his hips timidly bucked forward as an indicator of what he wanted. Logan figured he could let Jean off easy for once, so he got to work.
His eyes slid closed as he leaned closer, letting out a content hum as his lips wrapped around the head of Jean's dick. His tongue swirled around it once before going flat against his bottom lip to softly cushion Jeanâs erection. He bobbed his head, just enough to pull Jean slightly further into his mouth, before pulling back again and repeating the process- each time taking Jean a little further into his mouth.
âSh-Shit---â Jean cursed as his hips bucked against the mattress without even thinking about it. His head fell back against the pillows, as he covered his face with his hands, muffling his moans against his palms.
All the while Logan continued to take more of Jean into his mouth with every bob of his head. His free hand slowly moved from the sheets to slide up and down Jeanâs thigh, gently caressing the skin as it erupted into excited goosebumps.Â
It moved further down, brushing gently across Jeanâs ass until-
Logan quickly pulled away. âWait are you...â He pressed a finger against Jeanâs asshole. His pre-lubricated and pre-stretched asshole.
Now that was a surprise.
âI--â Jeanâs mouth opened and closed a few times. âI was in the shower and I wanted to see what it was like, okay!?â
âAww~â Logan snickered, teasingly trailing his finger in circles around Jeanâs entrance, just to watch him squirm. âYou mean you didn't do this just for me?â
Jean remained silent.
âIn that case why donât you show me how you did i-â
âHELL NO!â Jean exclaimed as he kicked his leg out from under him, almost nailing Logan in the face.
Unfortunately for Jean, Loganâs soldier reflexes kicked in faster than his leg, so the hit was easily avoided.
Logan held Jeanâs leg up with a loud laugh. âJean you donât need to be so fucking serious all the time!â He said through his laughter. âI get that youâre pent up but my god-- Iâm trying to help you!â
Jean scowled at his laughing friend and quickly pulled his leg back. âMaybe I wouldnât be so serious if youâd stopped fucking patronizing me!â
Loganâs laughter died down with the roll of his eyes. He pulled open the drawer of his bedside table and pulled out a small vial of oil. âIâm not patronizing you.â
âYou are!!â
âDonât be so dramatic,â Logan said as he opened the vial and poured out some of the oil into his palm.Â
âIâm not being dramatic!â Jean flipped over onto his stomach.
âHmmâŚâ One of Logan's hands rested against Jean's hip as the other gripped his own erection, spreading the oil across it. âYeah you are.â
âIâm not.â Logan guided Jean up.
âAre too.â Jean's knees pressed against the mattress.
âA-Am notâŚâ Jean mumbled as he wrapped his arms around Logan's pillow.
The childish argument died as Logan held himself over his friend, one hand still on Jean's hip as the other held the base of his own cock.
Jean glanced over his shoulder scowling at Logan (typical). Blushing (also typical). And clearly with an insult or comeback on the tip of his tongue (again: very typical).Â
What wasnât typical was what was hidden behind the scowl, the blush, and the tip-of-the-tongue insult; an uncertain look in Jeanâs eyes. Not typical. Not typical at all.
âYou sure about this?â Logan asked.
âA bit late to back downâŚâ
âNo, itâs not.â Logan immediately said. âWe can stop here if you want. I already gave you the best blowjob youâve ever had, pretty sure that confirms that youâre into guys.â
âWho said it was the best?â
âYour slutty moaning was a pretty good indicator.â
âI--â Jean sputtered.
âI want a yes, Jean,â Logan said with a quirk of his eyebrow.
Jeanâs eyebrows tightened together in another scowl. He looked away from Logan, annoyed by his stupid face. â...yes,â Jean mumbled against the pillow.
The seriousness of the conversation washed away as Logan snickered. âWell donât be so mad about it.â He teased as the head of his cock met Jean's entrance. âI only tease you because youâre cute when youâre pissed off~â He leaned over Jean to place a soft kiss against his shoulder.
Jean didn't say anything, he just wiggled his hips impatiently as he hoped that Logan would shut the hell up once he got on with it.
Logan slowly pushed forward.
Jean hissed, grip immediately tightening against the pillow.
âTell me to stop if it hurts,â Logan told him.
âObviously it hurts! Youâre shoving your dick into my asshole!!â
Logan rolled his eyes. âIf it hurts too much.â He elaborated before he tried to distract Jean by sucking a hickey into his shoulder.
âA-Ah s- shit--...â Jean gasped from a mix of pleasure and pain, hips squirming in the air as the head of Logan's dick slid into him.
Even Logan was momentarily lost in the sudden sensation of tight heat. His grip on Jeanâs hip tightened as he kissed his friend's shoulder one more time before pulling back.
âSeriously, tell me if it-â
âJUST DO IT ALREADY!â
Logan began to wonder if he was about to hit the world record for Most Eyerolls During Anal Sex.
((He was.))
World records aside, Logan moved his hips forward and began a steady rhythm of gentle thrusts, pushing further and further inside of Jean with every motion.
After a few minutes (and several more eyerolls to add to that world record) Logan's hips were flush against Jean's.Â
Jean gasped below him, his hold on the pillow no longer as tight, but still tight enough that it indicated he wasn't comfortable yet. Meanwhile, Logan's rough hold on Jean's hips was so tense that it was sure to leave bruises. He bit his lip, eyes sliding closed as he willed himself not to move until Jean was ready for it.
Although maybe moving right now wouldn't be a good thing for him either. For the first time in a long time, Logan was a little worried that he might blow his load embarrassingly early and--
Wow he knew he wouldn't live that down if it happened.
It wasn't his fault though! Sex hadn't felt this good for him in ages . Maybe Jean was just a good lay, or maybe it was because of the buildup. Maybe it was due to the dry spell he'd had for the last few weeks or maybe it was because-
Because Logan cared about who it was with.
He cared about Jean.
Not in a romantic way, but still strongly enough that he knew this wasn't some meaningless fuck that meant nothing to either of them. It might be a one-time thing (hopefully not), but it still meant something.
And the last time sex had meant something to Logan had been years ago with R--
No.
     âŚfuckâŚ
Logan bit his lip harder, no longer to hold himself back but purely as a means to feel the pain of his sharp teeth against his sensitive skin.
What was he doing wasting his time by thinking about that traitor agai-Â
âL-Logan?â Jean stuttered through a gasp, breaking Logan out of his thoughts. âCan I turn around it's-- it's freaking me out not seeing your face.â
Logan blinked several times before he registered what Jean was saying. âOh uh-- yeah. Sure.âÂ
He slowly pulled out, causing Jean's back to arch as he gasped again.
Logan bit back a snicker at the reaction, finding it genuinely endearing how quickly Jean turned into an over-sensitive mess.
Once Jean flipped over, Logan immediately noticed that the scowl he had been wearing before was completely washed away. Instead, Jean's eyes were glazed over with a hazy lust as his flushed cheeks and parted lips only added to the picture.
âWe've got to get a lot closer if you want me to do it this way,â Logan said as he lifted Jean's legs and hooked them under his arms.
âYour dick was already inside of my ass, I don't really care.â
Logan studied Jean.
The scowl that had (partially) returned. The flushed cheeks. The parted lips. The way his hair was sticking to his sweaty forehead even though all he'd done so far was lay there like the pillow princess he undoubtedly was.
It was so ridiculous for Jean to show up like this.
Act all embarrassed and coy.
Get mad.
And somehow still end up with the two of them in this position.
Logan supposed he'd always found Jean's personality cute for that reason. At first, it was in an annoying-little-brother kind of way; but as they'd both grown up it had shifted into something different.Â
Some sort ofâŚÂ fondness for the easily embarrassed boy.
And maybe Logan needed a little fondness right now.
Maybe they both did.
Once upon a time, he'd probably heard some wise old saying about broken hearts mending together; but he didn't want to spend the time recalling it right now.
Instead, he laughed.
And this time it wasn't a teasing snicker through a flirtatious smirk. This time it was a genuine laugh of pure amusement that tickled the pit of his stomach and made everything suddenly feel so much lighter.
Jean stared at him for a moment before he laughed too, unable to help himself from joining in even though he wasn't sure what the joke was.
Maybe it was just the nervous ridiculousness of the situation itself.
âSo are you going to fuck me already or what?â Jean eventually asked as their shared laughter died down.
âYeah, yeah.â Logan hovered over him. âYou're a pretty demanding guy you know. No wonder girls stopped wanting to fuck you.â
âHey!â Jean protested. âPlenty of girls wanna fuck me, okay? I just wanted to give fucking you a chance.âÂ
âYeah,â Logan started to push into him again, âI noticed.â
âS-Shit ahh- r - right there--â Jean gasped as his legs wrapped around Logan, heels digging into his lower back to pull him in even closer.
Logan rolled his eyes one last time before he tilted Jean's chin up. âI'm gonna make you cum on my cock and then once you've cooled off from that I might suck you off again as a reward,â he told him.
Jean gasped as Logan's dick pressed firmly against the exact spot he needed it. âO-Okay y- yeah I'll-- f-fuck yeahâŚâ
Logan leaned down, nose brushing against Jean's as his lips hovered over his. âGood boy,â he whispered against Jean's mouth.
.
.
.
34 minutes later, as Jean watched his cum dribble down Logan's chin, the great mystery had been solved:
He was definitely-
    painfully-
        undeniably-
                           bisexual.
Slay.

epiphany excerpt / jean kirstein
From chapter seven of my Jean Kirstein fic, epiphany
Set during the first Marley visit, right before they all get wasted lol
Iâm late. We were supposed to meet at seven and Iâm late. This maze of a fucking house is the cause of it. If there werenât so many hallways I wouldâve never gotten lost.Â
Eventually, we met up with Kiyomi Azumabito. We were currently at her residence, and we were having a meeting to discuss some sort of game plan. You know, to try and get Marleyans to hate us a little less. But unfortunately I had lost track of time, and only left my room the moment I was supposed to be with everyone else. Through my panic, I completely forgot about the whole tour Kiyomi gave us, so I made about four wrong turns.
After quite literally having to follow the sound of Sasha and Connieâs loud ass voices, I made it to where I was supposed to be. As I stumbled down the stairs, I noticed Eren sitting at the bottom.
âShit, how mad is Levi?â I asked, knowing I would never hear the end of this.
âI donât know. But Jean is keeping Kiyomi occupied, so you donât have to worry about her.â Eren replied coolly. Once I reached him he stood up, and reached out to grab my hair. I had done it up in two low pigtail braids when we got here. Iâm not really sure why, but something about being in a different country made me want to try something new. Holding onto my left braid, he chuckled, and twirled the stray pieces that werenât included in the style in his fingers.
âWhat?â I asked, completely ignoring him playing with my hair. Which he stopped about as soon as he started. I was confused as to what topic of interest Jean Kirstein and Kiyomi Azumabito would have in common. âWhat are they talking about?â âYou.â
I laughed dryly, âReal funny, Eren. Now come on, letâs get this over with.â I began to walk over to the door we needed to cross, but Eren didnât follow. âWhat?â I repeated, my tone whiny as if I were a child.
He let a small smile come over his face, and he shook his head. âYouâre so oblivious, Lina.â With that, he walked towards the door and held it open for me. Now that the group knew I finally made it, I couldnât ask any more questions. I had to push down the interrogation bubbling up in my stomach, threatening to spill out at any second. I gave him a weird look, and stepped into the room.

Both of them ??â§
Plot: They came to comfort you.
A/N: Suggestive??
The cramped cabin felt suffocatingly claustrophobic as you huddled trembling in the corner, tears streaking silently down your flushed cheeks.
Echoes of your fallen comrades' dying screams reverberated through your mind's frantic, panicked spiral.
Eren - that twisted embodiment of rage and hatred incarnate - unleashed untold horrors upon the world.
Countless dead beneath a merciless stampede of Titans set on rendering humanity extinct. All over some misguided bid for twisted vengeance.
And now, you teetered on the razor's edge of that genocidal abyss alongside your remaining friends.
One wrong move, one faltering of conviction...was all it would take to get swept over into that ravenous maw of obliteration right alongside Eren's monstrous ambitions.
Hot, stinging droplets splashed from beneath your tightly-squeezed lids as you buried your face in your knees.
Why?
Just...why had everything gone so horrifically awry?
A metallic groan heralded the cabin door swinging open with an ominous creak. You flinched instinctively, shoulders hunching defensively as those cloying shadows spilled across the floor towards your curled form.
Until two deeply familiar, gruff voices sliced through the keening misery ricocheting endlessly within your skull.
"Hey, kiddo. You alright over there?"
Steeling your composure through shuddering inhales, you dragged the heels of your palms across your cheeks before glancing up at the striking figures framed by the threshold's bleak lighting.
Jean and Reiner gazed down with matching masks of grim resolution - all taut jawlines squared with stubborn fortitude masking the softness simmering in those slate and honey irises.
A marked departure from the roguish, incandescent youths once hell-bent on proving themselves amidst those carefree military training days in the sun.
Lean muscle solidified by battlefields replacing wiry boyish forms, chiseled features sharpened by years of combat severity into something inhumanly statuesque.
Even the unkempt stubble misting matching jawlines lent some wild, rogue charm belying their hardened edges.
All at once, you registered a searing pang twist through your core quite differently from the anguish clenching it mere moments prior.
It smoldered hot and insistent, quickening your pulse until you felt dizzy and curiously feverish despite the chill swaddling the tiny cabin.
Whoa...when did they get so...?
Your mind faltered lamely through the haze of adrenaline and lust thrumming white-hot through your veins like heady liquor.
Heat blossomed undeniably in your cheeks as sordid thoughts scattered your reeling focus.
"I'm...I'm f-fine!" you squeaked, dropping your gaze with a violent shake of your head.
As if harboring notions that sordid involving two of your closest comrades wasn't depravity itself.
The very idea of pleasuring not one but both those towering, battle-hewn Adonic specimens spurred viscous, all-too-vivid fantasies to swamp your psyche.
Fevered daydreams where every lascivious hunger, every illicit friction, every indecent cry got magnified tenfold by the unholy prospect of being sandwiched between their bulging musculatures.
You silently reprimanded yourself through labored breaths, willing the sinful deluge corrupting your senses away through sheer force.
Until Reiner planted one massive paw squarely on your shoulder, fingertips sinking into the taut cords of muscle there.
"Don't give us that bullshit," the hulking warrior growled, blonde stubble swaying with the rippling motion of his voice. His honeyed irises lashed by pale lids bored into yours with blazing, unshakable intensity.
"We're way past hiding shit from each other."
"That's right," Jean chimed in, mirroring Reiner's steely countenance.
His slender fingers brushed the stray tendrils matted to your sweat-sheened brow with startling tenderness.
"So talk to us - either of us, or both. You know it's okay to unload on your fellow soldiers for once."
The simple weight of their voices - deep, gritty ravers caressing over every syllable with such unspoken affection and care - proved your undoing.
Unleashing a deluge of scorching, mortifying yearning pooling liquid-hot in your loins with a disconcerting pulse.
Oh Fuck...These sinful thoughts...how is this even possible right now? About them of all people. After everything we've been through?!
Yet as maddening lucidity trickled back into your lust-glazed eyes, confirming the lusty sparks mirrored amidst Jean and Reiner's equally molten expressions, you realized something profound.
You craved this unorthodox outlet. The ultimate intimate submission, the total escape into primitive bliss beyond reason or complication or crushing stakes.
To shatter apart completely in your beloved brothers' loving, capable hands like surrogate messiahs ferrying your shattered spirit into ecstasy's sanctum reprieve.
Mutely, you nodded before surging to your feet - backing away on wobbling legs until your shoulders bumped the cabin's reinforced wall.
Two pairs of searing gazes speared you to the spot, radiating the same furnace of scintillating energy that pulsed through your veins and ached between your thighs.
Heartbeats stampeding in your ears, a hyper-awareness sharpened your vision onto every tantalizing detail.
How Reiner's broad chest ballooned with undulating breaths, eyes glittering with primal promise.
How Jean dragged his tongue along the plush curvature of his lower lip, leaving it slicked and swollen in unconscious temptation.
Fuck. They want this too. Really, really want it.
Gasping aloud at the delicious epiphany, you watched blithe and expectant as both demigods surged forward - powerful strides unwavering and unbroken.
Gaits predatory yet betraying no urgency nor aggression, just the promise of total unhurried obliteration upon celestial impact.
Two behemoth silhouettes consumed you within their intersecting, heated eclipses, blotting out reality altogether.
Fingers splayed against your rain-slicked window of separation, breath quickening until the first feverish graze of Reiner's searching fingertips scorched across your jugular...only to freeze in tandem with Jean's insistent tug at your chin as a familiar voice echoed through the hall beyond.
"Hey guys? Where'd you all run off t-- oh, there you are! Got a second?"
Armin's curious tenor crashed through the thickened veil like a bucketful of ice water extinguishing smoldering embers.
All three of you snapped back with a violent, breathless jolt.
Gulping audibly, you averted your eyes and hastily mumbled some excuse about needing air before bolting from the oppressive cabin confines.
Footfalls ringing out against hollow steel, you fled the unbearable, unresolved tension blazing in your wake alongside the feverish maelstrom of unrequited, sinfully fervid hunger threatening to chew you asunder from within.

MASTERLIST
MIRABELLE WINDRIDER POV
Living in the storage section of a Marleyan warship for several days comes with having my limbs squished between a box of deactivated bombs and ration packs. Itâs one of the several cons of being stuck here, besides the seasickness, having to freeze up when soldiers come in to look for things and multiple hours of being bored, plotting my arrival.
Voices atop tell me thereâs a disturbance up ahead the boat. Well, they arenât telling me. The Marleyan soldiers donât actually know Iâm here at all. It should be kept that way until itâs time is what Yelena strictly instructed.
Itâs been forever-and-a-half since we left Marley! We certainly must've arrived on the coast of Paradis by now. Iâve been sharpening the blade all this while like a good girl. Can something happen already?
I stretch my body after eight hours of sitting in a cramped position. The commotion above doesnât surprise me as I feel the familiar pull in my limbs and torso. An assassinâs flexibility is unmatched, a small breeze in the air, seductive and chilling as we kill our victims.
An explosion and a loud horn cause yells on the warship but a smile on my face.
Thank you, Yelena.Â
I flip the dagger into my belt as I make my way up the stairs I snuck down merely a few days ago.
I have to be quick but soft.Â
They canât know Iâm here.Â
Not yet, at least.
The cool air makes contact with my skin, clearing my lungs and any mustiness that has accumulated instantly. But there wasnât any time to relish in this moment. Iâm here to get the job doneâthe Beast is counting on me.
The soldiers are stunned at whatâs in front of them. I try to get a look at the situation from where I am, right behind, in the corner of the door where no moonlight can reveal me.Â
Outside is dark, but lighter than inside the storage bunker where I couldnât figure out who was coming unless I really tried to listen through the water. The first thing I notice about Paradis Island is that the stars here are explicit, little trinkets hung on the blanket they sit on. That, and the many lights by the tents that illuminate where they must be living. Yelena did tell me when she snuck into Marley in between to pick up a couple of the supplies that the stars here shine way brighter.
Itâs beautiful.
I shake my head. I can look at the stars later. I have to assess the situation weâre in first.
Beyond the vessel is rocky land and what looks like many rifles being pointed towards the warfare ship. I attempt to look for Yelena through the hunter green capes but the lanky woman is nowhere to be seen.Â
I roll my eyes.Â
Looks like Iâll have to get to work.
Cracking my neck, I slide behind the soldier closest to me.Â
I slink my arms around him, one coming up to cover his mouth and one around his torso and arms. I whisper in his ear, âMake this easy for me.â
He whimpers against the palm of my hand, making me smile.Â
Thatâs cute. Heâs scared of me.
The power thrills me, sending goosebumps through my skin. Itâs been a while since Iâve been back in action.
I snake up his chest, up his neck. before he can move or do anything, I twist his neck. He falls onto my lifted foot like I wanted, noiseless and efficient.
The rest of the soldiers are paying attention to the rifles pointed at them and a Paradis person screaming through a megaphone at how excited they are to see Marleyans on their grounds and how they want to invite all of us onto their island.
Is that supposed to be welcoming?
I snatch the pistol off of the soldier I just injured, popping a few bullets into the barrel. The soldier opens his mouth, heaving in to scream but I smash my foot onto his face, glaring right down at him.Â
That was a close one.Â
Theyâre all blindly focused on the Paradis soldiers so I make the decision to move.
Now or never, baby.
I cock back the pistol, gaining the attention of the Marleyans.
Their eyes widen.
I clear my throat, âHi!â
âWho are you?!â the captain of the ship hollers at me.
I kick back the face of the soldier underneath me and walk towards the Captain. The soldiers pull out their guns rapidly, only to cause me to laugh.
âDonât shoot, men.â he orders them in his husky tone.Â
âDoesnât matter if they only got dummy bullets in them.â
The Captain hesitates, puzzled by my response, âExcuse meââÂ
âYouâre too slow, Captain.â
I launch the dagger into his neck. Blood splatters out of his throat and mouth as he lands with a thud. Heâll be dead soon. I stabbed the artery after all!Â
Slipping my dagger right back out, five men charge towards me, hostility swimming through them.
I kick the first one on the side of the face, sending him towards the side. The next two with simple dagger slices in their necks like their damned Captain. The next one is a dodgeâI let that one fall over the boat and into the water.Â
The last soldier grabs me by the shoulders while Iâm cackling at the soldier who fell overboard. He shoves me against the boatâs railing. My head hits the metal, a weird vibration making the world spin in a way seasickness could never.
Said soldier grabs his pistol and shoves it into my mouth.
I cry aloud. He yanks my hair back so I can properly taste the coarseness of the instrument almost hitting the back of my throat.
Iâm going to pass out from suffocation or a dummy bullet.Â
Itâs going to be the end of me.
âIâm going to choke you out, whore.â he says.Â
Itâs then that a lightbulb goes off in my head.Â
He gets off on the fact that heâs in power right now, that at any moment now he can push me off the boat, shoot a bullet down my throat and touch me however he pleases. The sinisterness in his eyes illustrates his devotion to his job, the real grotesque that comes with it.
Iâm dealing with someone much like meâa sadistic fuck.Â
With all my strength, I discreetly pull out my own pistol that I stole earlier, tears slipping out of my eyes.
Just one push, just one pushâÂ
I heave my knee into his manhood and shoot him in his abdomen.
He flies back, along with his pistol.Â
Coughing, I grab my dagger and kick his chest to send the man flying down onto the wooden board. He yells in pain, a cry that is my favourite sound a humanâs ever made. Itâs washed out and terrible, sending a chill down my spine.
I swear I hear cheers from the island but it could just be my near passing out from the pistol down my throat.Â
I straddle the crying soldier and raise the dagger above my head.
âPlease,â he blurts out, âPlease spare me, maâam.â
I throw my head back, laughing, âOh GodâŚno!â
The dagger sinks into his face. Right in between his eyes, at the beginning of the slope of his nose.Â
One stab renders him deceased.
However, one stab doesnât satisfy the assassin in me.Â
Two, three, four, five, sixâblood splatters onto my face and clothes, a forced strength coming out of my arms and the targetâs face absolutely unrecognisable.
Finally, when Iâm about to take the seventh, someone pulls me away from the body forcefully. I launch the dagger backwards but itâs caught for the first time by a hand right above their head.
Instead of trying to pull it out, I yelp in surprise.
âYelena!â I huff out.
âAbout to kill me too?â she jokes, nothing in her eyes. As usual.
âYelena~!â I repeat and wrap my arms around her torso.
âGross.â she sighs at all the blood of two Marleyans rubbing onto her ironed, white shirt.
Yelena kindly puts a towel around my shoulders.
Thatâs right. I didnât even think to check on myself.Â
Iâm breathing so hard, thereâs blood all over my hands and clothes and Iâm super excited that I completed my mission to perfection again.
âOops.â I chuckle, pulling out, âI canât believe you guys left me!â
âNot my fault someone slept through their alarm on the day we left.â
I punch her playfully, glad I finally see someone Iâm familiar with after so long.
âLetâs go.â she says.
âOh, the sailor! I havenât killed him yet!â I tell her, pointing at the back of the ship,
Yelena shakes her head, pulling my bloody arm towards the dock, âThatâs enough killing for you today. Weâll handle it from here. Letâs go get cleaned up first.â
As I walk down the wooden dock, impressed, blank faces stare back at me. My breathing slows down to a steadier pace as I stare right back, unsure on how to react to this weird attention. What I just did is equivalent to a murderous performance.
I donât think theyâve seen a massacre happen so quickly in front of them. I donât blame them. I set a record in Marley. Especially working for the Tybur clan, I was trained to be the assassin I am today. However, Iâm not particularly used to doing it in front of people.Â
Thatâs the thing about assassins, weâre supposed to take oneâs life in private.
âGet to work!â one of the Paradis soldiers yell, âStop staring, brats!â
A few soldiers walk down the dock, presumably to get the sailorâs head. One of them stands outâextremely tall, brown hair and a sparkle of innocence as he watches me intently. Thereâs curiosity within that innocence I discern easily, a little mouse coming out of its hole, respectfully.
A smile forms on my lips.
He blinks at me, blank, yet he knows Iâm looking exactly at him.
He walks right past me, avoiding eye contact once heâs close.
JEAN KIRSTEIN POV
The image of gooey blood splattered on her face paired with a bewitching smile from the newcomer has Jean Kirstein confused on one side and intrigued on another. Confused because when the Marleyans said that one of their people was delayed back at Marley, he was expecting another male soldier whoâs higher ranked, which is why they wanted him here to help out. Intrigued, because now that he knows itâs a woman, he wonders what kind of situation she was put in to create a flawless combat style.
As the moonlight flashes on her face, reflecting the glossy blood and the glimmer of her teeth. She looks incredibly insane and proud of herself for what sheâs done.
Taking down six men in five minutes? Jean has never seen that happen before. The most impressive stunt heâs seen pulled off was Captain Levi taking down five Titans in under a minuteâa whole other thing if he was to compare the two. Itâs not comparable. By far, Captain Levi is the best heâs seen before.
But, still.Â
The woman lingers in Jeanâs mind.
As he walked back to the tent him and Conny were sleeping in, he couldnât help but wonder about her. The way she made eye contact with him as if she could read his thoughts then and there was sufficient to know that sheâs seductively dangerous. Almost as if her sole purpose was to lure Jean inâ
âSorry,â he mumbles incoherently as he bumps into someone.Â
âAre you okay?â Mikasa asks him.
Jean blinks up at her, escaping his trance. Heâs never been the distracted type before.
Itâs rare for Mikasa to ask her comrades, itâs often she presses that question towards Eren Yeager. Deep down, Jean wishes Mikasa would be concerned with him the way she was with Eren. He really likes her and wanted to sought out for her ever since he came to know her. Eren took all her time, energy and love, now, Jean remains in the immovable comrade-zone.
He forgets the mesmerising aura Mikasa has that made him fall for her in the first place, âFine.âÂ
She walks off without another word. All she needed was that little âfineâ to let her keep going about her day.Â
After all, she had to go tend to Eren like she was some servant.
Jean sighs as he enters the tent, lamenting about Mikasa and knowing thereâs nothing he can do about her or her so-called duty to Eren. He canât help his attachment.Â
He gets ready for bed and the moment him and Conny turn off the lanterns to sleep and darkness fills his sight, the Marleyan soldier comes to mind again. Itâs like she cast a spell on him the moment they locked eyes on the dock.Â
Her smile, he thinks.
It was beautiful amongst the slaughter on her face.
How can one make the wretched so beautiful?
â
Conny and Jean are in charge of putting away the deliveries the camp receives from the Walls. The cart is full of food, weaponry and other things that would make living here easier.Â
Theyâd discussed that the Marleyans should be doing the labour here but Hange countered, arguing that it wouldnât be right for the cause they were fighting for. Jean agreedâthey had a point. They were trying to do good for the world. What would be the point of making Marleyans do all the work when they were fighting for equality?
As time goes on, Conny and Jean become exhausted and settle into the carts themselves.
âI need a drink.â Conny groans, leaning his head back on the cart.
Jean hums in response. The sun was burning their backs as they slaved the day away, barely breaking in between to keep this damn camp going.Â
âConny! Jean!â
They lift their heads to see whoâs calling their name.
Itâs none other than Onyankopon, walking towards them with a great, big smile on him, a wave and a guest in tow. Jean wishes he was as positive as Onyankopon looked right now. Heâd be getting through these deliveries in no time.
He looks over at the guest Onyankopon brought along.Â
Right then and there, chills run down his spine.Â
Thereâs no way.
He straightens up effective immediately.Â
âWanted to introduce you to someone new!â Onyankopon says as he arrives at their cart, âShe arrived last night.â
Jeanâs eyes are plastered at the Marleyan soldier, eyes wide, consuming her presence. Sheâs piercing with caramel tones and charcoal hair, illustrating her humanity. Nonetheless, her eyes tell him something else. Thereâs a certain depth in them, a void that can suck you in if you look too long.
She steps up.
âMirabelle.â she states, ample confidence, âMirabelle Windrider.â
Sultry voice that coats strawberries with chocolate. The woman stares straight into him, taking words right out of his mouth and stomping them on the ground before her. The corners of her lips quirk upwards into a minute smile as if she knows exactly what she just did to him.Â
âConny Springer.â Conny responds, âWerenât you the chick that killed all those soldiers last night?!â
She laughs, âMay have been.â
âYou were so cool!â Conny continues and Jean wouldâve looked at him but heâs currently too occupied with the newcomer, âThe way you knocked them all down. Jean and I were talking about you last night! Everyone was.â
âWere you?â Mirabelleâs eyes easily wander to Jean. âWhoâs this?â
He has nothing to say. He canât say anything.
âCat got your tongue, Jeanie-boy?â Conny calls. âYou know staring at a lady is rude!â
Jean will deal with Conny later. Right now, her slightest provocation forces Jean to give her his name. âJean Kirstein, maâam.â
âJeanâŚâ she utters and his eyes widen with fear? Anxiety?...desire?
Onyakopon comes into frame and she leans against his arm which she somehow can despite the manâs height. âMaâam? She look that old to you, boy?â
âN-No! Of course not, just didnât wanna disrespect her.â Jean blurts out as Mirabelle laughs.Â
There she goes again with that smile like she likes watching him twitch under her glance.
Onyakopon sighs, looking down at Mirabelle, âAt it again?â
âWhatâs wrong with a little fun, Onya~â
Before he could think about what she meant by that, Onyankopon says to them, âWeâve got to attend some meetings. Hope you gentlemen do well.â
âBye!â Mirabelle waves at them.
âBye!â Conny replies.
â...bye.â
When they leave, a sigh leaves Jean. A couple seconds of silence passes them until Conny finally speaks up, âHot stuff, huh?â
âWhat?â
âMaâam.â he mocks.
Jean furrow my brows, âShut up, Conny.â
MIRABELLE WINDRIDER POV
Paradis Island is a blast.Â
Besides sleeping inside a tent, Iâve had fun the last couple of days, getting to know the nationâs people and growing the bonds I already have. What Marleyans say about Paradis Island is nowhere near true but honestly, youâd have to have a brain to know that. Theyâre anything but devils, theyâre humans trapped in walls and know nothing of the outside world.Â
Hange Zoe, Commander of the Scouts, has created a timetable for me this week so itâd make it easier for me to settle in.Â
How kind of them. I donât think Iâve ever gotten close to this treatment back in Marley, even as a respected assassin.
The next thing on my schedule is a team building session with none other than Hange Zoe leading it. Iâve done a couple the past few days and itâs my favourite so farâsomething lighthearted amongst all the tedious soldier work.Â
As someone whoâs not a soldier, the training style is different from what Iâm used to. I mean, it is still combat training but itâs coarse, explosive training rather than the elusive, cunning style Iâm used to.
When I pull up to the grassy patch a hundred feet from the camp, Hange is waiting with a group of Marleyans and Eldians, animatedly chatting with the group.
Thatâs one thing I love about Hange so far. They see no difference in our races unlike other members in the camp.
âThere she is!â they exclaim as I join the circle, âOur final member.â
âHello.â I greet everyone, looking around the circle.
I stop almost immediately. Two people over is none other than the starer.
Jean Kirsteinâs eyes widens at seeing me join the circle.
There he goes again.Â
âNow that everyoneâs present, today weâll be playing a fun, little game Iâve conjured up when working with Cadets! Heard you Marleyan soldiers had no fun when in military, so this will be a little refresher.â Hange explains, âNow, sit down, sit down.â
We all do as they say, plopping onto the grassy land.
âThis game,â they start, âIs called, âtwo truths, one lieâ. Itâs just as stated. We will go around the circle, telling two truths and one lie. The point of this game is to decipher the lie through the three statements told. Itâs going to help us understand tidbit information about each other and hopefully, bring us closer as a team. Sounds easy enough?â
The group agrees. We take some time to think about our statements before Hange goes first, telling us that they are the example round, âOkay, so Iâm the Fourteenth Commander of the Survey Corps, Captain Levi Ackerman is my best friend and I hate Titans.â
âI am not your best friend.â Levi responds indifferently, âThatâs the lie.â
Hange chuckles, âYes, you are, silly.â
Aw.
Levi rolls his eyes, âYouâre so obsessed.â
They hit his shoulder, âYouâre mean and short, so youâre just as bad.â
He glares right back at them.
âYouâre the Fourteenth Commander, thatâs the lie!â a Marleyan speaks up.
âNo,â I interrupt before they can give away the answer, âItâs that they hate Titans.â
All eyes are on me.
Over the last couple of days, Iâve stayed quiet during team building sessions, only participating when absolutely necessary. No matter how lively I am around the Marleyans, being thrown into a completely new circumstance can make anyone nervous. So, staying quiet and observing is the best way to be until Iâm comfortable enough.
Now Iâm comfortable enough.
âYes!â Hange answers, âHow did you know, Mirabelle? I donât remember telling you.â
I purse my lips and look down on my lap, a little embarrassed, âNot directly, but I overheard you telling other Marleyans that you had two Titans called Sawney and Bean. You said you adored them like they were your children. Plus, you donât seem the type to hate Titans.â
Hangeâs eyes light up.
âSawney and Bean!â they gasp, âBless them. Can we have a moment of silence for Sawney and Beanââ
âThose asswipe Titans? No.â Levi interrupts, raising an eyebrow, âGet on with the stupid game. I donât know why you insist on these timewasters.â
âUgh,â they groan, âThis is not a waste of time! Having team building sessions helps people get along and build bonds. Like you care about any of that stuff, grumps!â
âExactly. I donât.âÂ
âOkay, so shut your mouth. Donât listen to this party pooper, guys.â Hange sighs, causing us to laugh, âItâs your turn, Mirabelle. Give us your statements.â
I nod, having my statements ready to go, âIâm left-handed, Iâm an assassin back in Marley andââ
âYouâre not left-handed.â
It seems as if Jean is confused as to why he spoke so quickly before I finished my statements. Iâm confused, too. How did he know that was the lie?
âIâm not?â I ask, trying to throw him off.
He shakes his head, right on the money, âYouâre right-handed. I remember the way you held the gun at the Captain on the boat that night. You were in a right-handed stance.â
It takes me a second to digest that.Â
It was dark that night, how could he have seen my stance?
âDid I get it?â he asks.
I smile at him, genuinely, âYeahâŚyou did.â
He mustâve really focussed on me on that boat. My heart races a little. To have someone enraptured by me is a feeling I havenât had in a while.
âWell done, Jean!â Hange compliments, clapping, âGreat attention to detail! See, guys. This is the point of the game. Itâs to understand each other better, so we can have trusting bonds when in combat.â
Levi clicks his tongue in annoyance.
âYou better get your lies ready, Levi,â Hange warns, âYouâre after Jean.â
For some reason, Levi looks scared. He is slipped into a trance, probably trying to think of his three statements to tell everyone.
âGo on, Jean,â Hange prompts
I watch Jean think about his statements, scanning the grass below him until he lifts his head, âAlright.â
He looks right at me.
He blocks the eight others around us, part of the game and shoots his statements at me.
Itâs a challenge.
âI was forced to become a part of the Survey Corps, my mom makes the best omelettes and my friends call me âHorsefaceâ.â
âThe first one.â I tell him before anyone can say anything. I donât think anyone was going to anyways. It was aimed at me. He wants me to get it right, thereâs a desperation screaming at me to do so.
He blinks at me, âWhat? How?â
âI donât think youâre the type of guy to be forced into the Survey Corps. You probably joined it because it matched your ideals and were willing to go far enough to obtain a goal. In that sense, I think most Scouts are like that anywaysâŚdid I get it?â
Jean nods, ever so slowly.
âYay!â I reply.
An invisible line threads between the two of us, connecting us in the moment. Jean seems lost in thought as if it was the first time he was acknowledged for his decisions.
Iâm glad I was able to give him that.
The Scouts in this island deserve that more than anything. The recognition and the pride that comes with it. Itâs not an easy job, after all.
Weâre looking at each other until Levi speaks up at last, âGet a room, the two of you.â
â
âMirabelle, Mirabelle! Wait up!â
I turn around, a running bald boy coming my way.
âHi. Conny, was it?â
He slams his hands on his knees, catching his breath, âY-Yes.â
âHow can I help you?â
âAre you busy?â Conny asks.
âHuh?â
âAre you busy at the moment?â he repeats.
What is this about?
âNot particularly, no. Sorry, whatâs this about?â
Conny straightens up and grins at me. I try to return it with a boxy grin of my own but all this seems a little suspicious to me.
âWould you like to eat with us?â
âSorry?â
âWould you like to have lunch with me and a few other Scouts?â Conny invites.
Oh.
âOh my God. Yes!. I would love to.â I nod enthusiastically,
âRight this way, maâam.â
âStop that.â I chuckle.
âIâve never seen Kirstein act like that in front of a woman,â he says, as I follow him.
So weâre having this conversation?
âUh-huh.â I reply, trying to stay uninterested.Â
Giving Conny the wrong impression is the last thing I want to do. Yes, it may be true that Jean caused my heart flutter earlier but that was for a mere moment. Iâm not interested in anything except keeping things cool and casual. Imagine if he thinks Iâm interested romantically.
That would send the wrong message.
âHeâs really a good guy,â Conny continues, âDonât tell him I said that but heâd take good care of his missus, if he had one.â
âI see.â
âWhat do you think of him, Mirabelle?â
Did Jean set him up to this?
No, it canât be. Jean seems like he barely knows that heâs interested in me. Conny, on other hand, as someone whoâs on the outside of this situation probably read in between the lines and got a grip on the situation.
âHeâs nice.â I reply.
âNice~â Conny sings, âAnyways, weâre here!â
Heâs brought me to behind a tent where a bunch of Scouts are sitting on upside down crates and eating from paper plates.
âHi!â all of them greet me.
Thereâs four of them, including Jean, who is just as shocked to see me there as I am him. Oh, what did I expect coming with Conny?
I look at Conny, raising an eyebrow. He just shrugs, nonchalantly. Is he playing wingman right now? Thereâs nothing to play wingman for!
This is ridiculous.
âHello.â I wave at them.
âThe foodâs over there, by the way.â a girl with a high ponytail and a stuffed face says, âYou can help yourself!â
âAlright, thanks.â
I grab my lunch at the stand and come back. Jean quickly stands from his crate and gestures for me to sit down.
âOh, you didnât have to, Iââ
âI already finished eating.â he interrupts, clearing his throat.
Itâd be rude to decline so I take the crate, muttering a small word of gratitude.Â
The crates are assembled in a circle so I can see the new people Iâm sitting with. Conny and Jean stand nearby, joining the conversation.
âIâm Mirabelle, by the wayââ
âYouâre the girl that knocked down those Marleyans a couple days ago, right?â the girl with the ponytails says, âSasha, nice to meet you.â
âYouâre right! It is her.â a blonde boy exclaims.
âIâll introduce you to everyone.â Sasha answers, âThis is Armin and Mikasa. Youâve met Conny and Jean?â
I look up at Jean and smile a little, âI haveâŚitâs nice to meet you all.â
And the questions come instantly.
âHow did you kill them all?â
âAre you a soldier? Youâre not wearing a uniform.â
âHow do you get your hair like that?â
âHow come you came in later compared to other Marleyans?â
âHey.â Jean interrupts the eager Scouts, âLet her eat before you talk her ears off.â
âThatâs okay, Jean.â I laugh, âLetâs see,â deep breath âIâve been trained to kill multiple people simultaneously. Iâm not a soldier, Iâm an assassin. My hair? Well, itâs this product I got from Marley. Totally cannot live without. I can share it with you if you like. I came late because I accidentally slept in when Onyankopon was leaving so I ended up having to find my own way here.â
They stare at me in awe.
âAny more questions?â I ask.
Shaking their heads, they go back to their food.Â
â
âThatâs the thing, Onyankopon. I donât want to be trained like a soldier!â I whine behind him, âMy combat style is already flawless and the way the soldiers train is so rough and not adequate for a nimble girl like me.â
âThatâs a conversation for you to have with Hange, not me.â he replies.
It seems that Onyankopon doesnât grasp my joke like he usually does. His lightheartedness and otherwise bubbly attitude has gone out of trace and is replaced with someone serious and, well, not so Onyankopon.
I slide off the horse we arrived on together as it stops before the Walls.
âMhm, right and you know Iâll convince them anyway.â I say, attempting to bring my best friend out.Â
Itâs not about the training anymore, itâs about making Onyankopon smile again. I miss that cheesy grin of his already and itâs been, what? Twenty-hours of this gloominess that has gone by?
âI doubt that but you can try. No oneâs stopping you.â he shrugs, âNow that Iâve dropped you here, may I please go attend to my business in Wall Sina?â
âIf I say ânoâââ
âGoodbye.â he says and I think heâs about to go before he make a face and looks back at me, âAlso, donât play too much around the Kirstein boy.â
Ah.
âWhatever do you mean?â I ask him innocently, patting the horseâs mane. She has lovely hair indeed, the embrace of rich earth.
Unfortunately, Onyankopon has turned to ultimately-serious-bossman mode. He sighs, âYou know what I mean.â
âThereâs nothing wrong with having fun, Onyankopon. You should have some fun these days.â
âItâs not fun to be put in that position, Mirabelle. They actually have a word for that.â he says, whipping the reins on the horse.
It moves forward, forcing me to jump back with a gasp.
I cup my hands over my mouth and yell, âWhatâs that?!â
âTorture!â
âWhoâs got his panties in a twist?â I ask myself, watching Mr Grim Reaper himself head off into the gates of Shiganshina.
My stomach twists with unease. He makes it sound like Iâm going to cause pain to Jean when thatâs nowhere near what I want to do. It doesnât hurt anyone to flirt and play around a little without any strings attached. At least thatâs what itâs like back in Marley.
I could do it as much as I want, untilâ
âI-Iâm not sure.â a voice comes from behind me.
Jean.
âOh, hi!â I greet him and point in the direction of the gone man, âDid you hear that conversation by any chance?â
He shakes his head, âJust what you said at the end. Onyankopon seems a little grim.â
âYeah, I think the meetings are getting to his head.â I answer, admiring Jean from below.
Up close, the guyâs big, tall and broad simultaneously. He has slender eyes paired with long, thin eyebrows which exudes a feminine aura amongst the straight nose and frowned mouth. Additional to that, there are those pretty, long lashes that cave his eyes; every fluttering blink is one alike to a lovely maiden. Heâs quite handsome though, a gentlemanly handsome that is difficult to find within this field of work.
âI can imagine.â he says.
It appears he's curious about why I'm staring at him. He doesnât back down or look away from me, he stares back this time.
So heâs not the nervous wreck I thought he was?Â
âI thought Hange was training meâŚâ I say, peering behind his shoulder to see no zealous Hange running around, ready to train me.
âAbout that.â he sighs, âCommanderâs gone to a meeting so she told me to train you instead and she sends her regards. Iâm gonna be showing you how to use the ODM Gear, hoping thatâs okay.â
âHuhâŚâ I respond inquisitively and before I can stop myself, my hands are touching the cool rectangles on his hips. The technology here is definitely a lot more advanced than what I was expecting. Itâs soâŚwait, âWhy wouldnât it be okay?â
I can see the alarms going off in his head.
âI donât know.â
Has a woman never touched him before?
âIâm sorry,â he breathes out, âIââ
âJean.â I utter, holding his shoulders in my hands. He tenses up immediately, answering my question right away, âYouâre gonna train me just fine. Donât be scared. Is this your first time?â
Both of us know the real reason why heâs shaking in his boots; however, neither of us can say the reason aloud.
âMy-my first time?â
âFirst time training someone?â I clarify with a small giggle.
âNo, itâs not.â
âThen, letâs go! Whereâs the equipment?âÂ
Jean brings me closer to the Walls. A green crate is loaded with ODM Gear equipment, including the gas cylinders, blades and harnesses. After putting on the various different equipment and being safely strapped up, Jean demonstrates how to use it.
âYour turn.â he prompts me.
âOkay.â
âSo, you have toââ
I press the triggers, aiming high enough on the Wall and the gear yanks me up forcefully. I gasp, thinking Iâm going to smash my face on the wall but I manage to plant my feet on the Wall, keeping my stance light on the surface.
âLike that?â I ask Jean, looking down at him.
Heâs about twenty feet away from me, eyes widened to the brim, âT-Thatâs perfect! Can you get down?â
I do the same thing backwards and climb down the wall to meet him again.
âHow?â Jean asks, his eyes glistening with admiration.
I pull back the strings and they snap into the contraption they come from. I laugh, âI donât know! But that was really fun! Kinda like rock climbing.â
âRock climbingâŚ?â he questions, tilting his head to the side.
I forget how underdeveloped it is compared to Marley.
âItâs like aâŚsport, I think? People climb up rocks or walls using their hands and feet and there are these things that stick out that you use to push yourself up and climb up.â I explain, âI used to have to do rock climbing for training. Itâs fun!â
He nods slowly, understanding the concept of it, âThat does sounds fun.â
âWhen we go to Marley together, I can show you!â I tell him.
âTogether?â
I want to bite my tongue.
âNot just the two of us! With everyone!â I declare, âSasha, Conny, Armin, Mikasa, damn, even Captain Levi could climb.â
For the first time in my presence, Jean Kirstein slips out a genuine chuckle. Like he means it. Thereâs no nervousness exuding from him, rather the enjoyment of my presence.
âFor sure, but I canât get over how quick you grasped that. Itâs not easy.â Jean replies, raising an eyebrow, âYouâre good.â
I lean in slightly, dropping my voice a little, âIâm good at a lot of things, JeanâŚâ
Just like that, the friendly air vanishes into the ether and is replaced with a drop of suggestion.Â
Jean freezes, dissecting my words before his cheeks turn red.Â
âAw, look at you!â I point right in his face, âYouâre blushing like crazy!â
âAm not!â he argues, quite defensively, âI donât even know what you mean by that.â
âYou are!â I laugh, finding his coyness amusing.
Whatâs the point of not admitting it when I watched him come to an understanding on what I just said?
âWhatever,â he huffs and points back at the Wall, âLetâs keep training.â
I canât stop laughing at him.
âItâs not that funny.â
â
âWanna go to the Marleyan restaurant in Wall Rose?â Sasha asks the group.
âOf course you wanna go there.â Conny remarks, suggestion glinting in his eyes.
She hits him on the shoulder, red creeping onto the apple of her cheeks.
I furrow my eyebrows, wondering whatâs going on with that comment. I donât question it too much, fatigued from the combat training we just came from.Â
To no avail, Hange highly suggested that I join combat training on the island, despite me being a combat virtuoso. They said, although my combat is adequate, thereâs always room for improvement and practising on different targets would do me more good than worse.
I couldnât argue with them there.
However, I thought I had it in the bag and could convince them otherwise, thatâs what put me down, not the training itself. I always thought of myself as a finesser but I guess Hange is just way too smart to finesse.Â
âHey, are you alright?âÂ
Jean appears beside me, peering down with a cautious look on his face.
I nod, âJust a little tired.â
âI see.â he answers, âCombat training can be tiring around here.â
âMhm.â
âStop flirting with Mirabelle and tell us what you wanna do, Jean!â Eren exclaims, playfully punching Jean on the shoulder, âDo you wanna go to Wall Rose?â
Jean shoves him out the way, âGet out of my face, assholeâŚand as for the restaurant, I donât think we should go. Everyoneâs tired. We gotta go all the way to Wall Rose to eat?â
âYeah!â Sasha exclaims.
âYou just wanna seeââ
Sasha slaps her hand to Connyâs mouth instantly, âShut your ass up. Wanna come, Mimi?â
âFor sure. I donât have anything for the rest of the day either.â I tell her.
âAre you sure?â Jean asks me, âI thought youâre tired.â
âShe just said she wants to go!â Conny argues, gesturing both his hands at me flamboyantly
âIâm not asking you.â Jean replies and looks back at me, waiting for an answer.
I break into laughter, âIâm fine with it, really, but a Marleyan restaurant? Didnât know you guys would have those âround here.â
âBest food Iâve ever had.â Mikasa speaks up indifferently.
Everyone hums in agreement at her statement.
The last time Iâve seen people react like that towards food was whenâ
âLetâs catch the carriage before it leaves for the Walls!âÂ
We run towards the carriages stationed at the exit of the camp, climbing into whichever ones were accessible to us first. I end up in the last carriages, not wanting to get in between Conny and Eren fighting to see which one would go into the first carriage. Jean follows me into the third and final carriage, presumably for the same reason.
âHave they all gone in the other carriages?â Jean questions, peeking his head out of the carriage.
âSeems like it.âÂ
After a subtle neigh at the front, the velvety carriage starts moving. It renders me silent for a second as I try to comprehend whatâs happening.Â
No one else is in the carriage with us. Iâm going to be going to the Walls with Jean alone. Iâll have forty-five minutes of him to myself.
âI have to say,â Jean begins, five minutes into the ride, âThe way you killed those soldiers when you first cameâŚit was amazing.â
I cross my leg over the other, slinking them back to me as I lean back, âYou think so?â
Jean nods vigorously, âI havenât seen anything like that before.â
âI could tell.â
He cocks an eyebrow, âWhat do you mean?â
I take a trip down memory lane to the night before, re-imagining the look plastered on his faceâthe innocent intrigue and the shimmer of moonlight that swam in his light eyes. I canât forget how he couldnât take his eyes off of me, either. I felt so formidable in the moment.
âYou seemed really curious,â I answer mildly. Offering a wry smile, I add, âIt was cute.â
âCute?!â
âCute.â I repeat.
âCute is not the word to describe me.â Jean retorts.
âOh, yeah? Then, what are you?â
He rubs his chin, actually thinking about it.Â
I donât know what starts it.Â
It must be the way his damn hair.Â
It falls in a way that looks incredible, it looks styled with a vehemence of boyishness. A
A sheen layer of sweat on his face, more visible when he looks to the side and the sun hits his face and rolled up sleeves to the elbow because of how hot it is out there. I've been trying to ignore it during combat but now, itâs making me squirm in my seat.Â
I think back to how he flung Eren to the ground as if he was just nothing to him, barely a sack of potatoes.
Heâs so strongâŚI wonder if he can read my thoughts or I wonder if he can see how a pool of heat travels down to my womanhood and settles there like itâs its new home.Â
If he knew, would he let me take him right there?
âMore likeâŚhandsome?â
Jeanâs eyes sparkle again as he looks back at meâthe same look in his face.
He has no fucking idea what he does to me.
I lean forward, arousal sticking to my clit as I mouth, âIâll tell you what you are, JeanâŚâ
âWhatâs that?â he asks, crossing his arms and raising an eyebrow.
He must think Iâm joking around.
âI think youâre sexy.â
The tension in his jaw slacks, âW-What? I donât understand.â
âLet me explain it to you.â I reply and reach out to touch a finger to his knee, drawing erratic patterns on it. He tenses up as expected and it goes quiet for a second. All I can hear is the wheels of the carriage pulling us forward and the slight breeze that enters the carriage, sending a chill down my spine.
âThereâs a drive in you that Iâm attracted to. Your provider mindset, for one, tells me that you bring what is important to the table and you think about others before yourself. But you do it in a way thatâs not showy, itâs just who you are. And, when you like someone, you really dedicate yourself to them. The way you think about those you like is only out of love. And, my favourite,â I ease back onto my cushioned seat, the silence from him being the loudest thing in this carriage, âHow you lose all power when you look at me.â
The Big Jean makes himself small in his seat.
âIâm sorry.â he almost whispers.
âSorry? Shouldnât you be saying âthank youâ? I just complimented you!â
âThank you.â he breathes out as if thereâs no oxygen in here. He peers at his lap before he looks up, brow furrowed and uncertain, âI think youâre incredible too, by the way. Ever since I saw you defeat those soldiers, Iââ
The carriage comes to a halt.
âHuh?âÂ
We exchange a confused glance.Â
I peer outside the carriage. The carriage in front of us opens their door and out comes Sasha and Connny. They come into our carriage and get settled in here.
âWhatâs going on?â Jean asks disappointedly.
I nearly chortle at the tone in his voice.
âSorry, Eren started blabbering about freedom.â Sasha replies, getting comfortable next to me, âI couldnât stand another second of it.â
âHe doesnât get it. No one wants to listen to the same speech again and again.â Conny sighs, sitting next to Jean. He looks between Jean and me, âBro, youâre like proper sweating. Maybe we shouldnât have left you here alone with Mirabelle. What have you done with him?â
I laugh at his accusatory tone, âWe were just talking.â
âTalking? Jeanâs cooking in his clothes.â
âShut up!â Jean says, pushing him away from him.
Jean casually throws one leg on top of the other.Â
Itâs only when I look closer I see something peek up at me.Â
He catches me looking and changes the way he sits so itâs less obvious.Â
Little did he know, Iâve seen those countless times and it only takes time before one explodes.
â
âWhereâs Jeanie-boy gone?â Conny pipes up when weâre seated in the restaurant.Â
There are massive fans all around the dining area, cooling us down.
âI think heâs in the bathroom.â I answer casually as I look at the menu in front of me.
The restaurant is by far the most luxurious thing Iâve seen on this island. Thatâs saying a lot as someone who takes frequent strolls in Sina to attend meetings here and there. It looks somewhat familiar too, in the sense of the vibes.
âHe takinâ a shit or something?â Conny remarks, causing the others to laugh.
Conny doesnât know why heâs in the bathroom. I do. I just keep it quiet.
âWhatâs the best thing they do here?â I ask Mikasa who happens to be sitting next to me.
âI heard they do the lobsters bestââ
It clicks right there and then.
âHello, everyone. What are youâŚMirabelle?!â
I dread it.
I dread it so bad, a morbid anguish blossoming inside me as I blink up.Â
In front of me is none other than Niccolo.
My ex.
JEAN KIRSTEIN POV
Jean doesnât like how eloquent Mirabelle is.Â
Her lips move so languidly yet, manages to say everything it needs to within a short time. The way she talked to him in the carriage somehow undid him and his pants. Being stuck in a restaurant bathroom where the walls are paper thin and trying to release the pent up was more than a mere struggle.
Heâs like a putty in her hands, moulded and crafted for her to use.
âYou make me feel powerfulâ she had told him.
He hates how, for once, he cannot control whatâs happening in his body. Itâs like sheâs found his weak spot and is stepping into it. It makes him feel powerlessânothing but prey in her eyes.
After the Marleyan restaurant and the ride home, his friends wondered what was wrong with Jean, why their constant teasing wouldnât rile him up like it usually would.Â
Even when Jean slips under his covers at night, he thinks about how Mirabelle spoke to him. Her voice had an effect, she had an effect on him that he couldnât recover from.Â
But he couldnât let himself fall for her.Â
No way.Â
That was a death wish.Â
He would put a lock on his cock before he imagined how her hands would feel tugging on his hair. Or, maybe how she would sound when he pushes into her. How about how sheâd feel clenched around him, all wet and tight for him?
âFuck!â Jean shouts, sitting up in his bed.
âWhat the hell, man?!â Conny yells back, equally as frustrated. He sits up, flicking on his lantern, âWhatâs wrong with your ass?â
âNothing,â Jean grumbles, getting out of bed, âIâm going out.â
âWhere are you going, baby?â Conny asks, softening his voice, âCome on here now. Donât leave a damsel like me in bed all alone!â
Conny makes what is a horrible attempt of a woman moaning. However, it didnât matter if it was horrible. Jean had had it. Anything remotely sexual was going to have a horrible impact on him. He doesnât know whatâs going to happen, he just knows itâs going to be bad.
He has to get out.
Outside the tent is a new world. He switches on his flashlight to guide him through the darkness to a place where he can unwind. Hopefully, a serene place where he can collect himself for a second and review whatâs happening right now; somewhere with no commotion, just the sound of the waves crashing on the shore. Like the rocky pools a few hundred metres from here.Â
Heâd accidentally discovered it on a walk a while back. Whenever Jean needed to run away for a while, heâd go there. It's been his designated spot.
He walks around the tents, strictly divided between the males, females and the leaders of the place.Â
Some lanterns still shone despite it being past two am.Â
There were soldiers still planning how to defeat the enemy, coming up with constructive plans and discussing them until dawn. Hange, Levi and Yelena are likely to be awake to be a part of these discussions. Theyâre saving humanity, meanwhile, Jean had his head wrapped around some woman like a little boy.
Speaking of the devil, Yelena walks right up to him.
âKirstein, is it?â she asks, getting a good look at his face in the dark, âWhat are you doing awake?â
Yelenaâs comrade has shaken up his mind and he had to go on a fucking walk to clear his head. Obviously, Jean couldnât tell her that.
âJust walking around.â he grumbles.
âStrange,â she notes with a subtle nod that Jeanâs not sure the meaning of. Yelena is a woman of little words and sometimes those words donât make sense, âAnyways, could you do me a favour?â
âSure.â he accepts before thinking over it.Â
Jean would do anything right now to rid his mind off anything from Mirabelle. He could go to the rocky pools after completing the delegated task.
âI have tons of things to do right now and need someone to assist me. Could you fetch Mirabelle from her tent?â she asks, âI doubt sheâs asleep at this hour and I could really use a handâŚKirstein?â
He cannot escape her.
Sheâs everywhere, at all times, consuming his every thought and circumstance and thereâs nothing he can do about it.
Jean sighs in defeat.
âIs there a problem?â Yelena probes.
He will die if heâs asked another question.
Shaking his head, he replies, âIâll go get her. Whereâs her tent?â
âIt should be the one thatâs the top left corner.â she relays, âTell her to come to the meeting tent.â
âOkay.â
Yelena walks off the other way.
It takes everything in Jean not to explode right there and then.Â
He takes as much of his frustration out on a nearby pebble, kicking it away, simultaneously being aware that there are people sleeping in the tents surrounding him.Â
What did he do to deserve this? This is torture, absolutely torture and he wouldnât wish this on his biggest enemy. As if there weren't already enough problems with planning an attack on Marley, Mirabelle had to make his life miserable.
What should he do?
Oh, but she is so pretty.
Where should he run to and scream?
I want to get to know her more.
He canât have a full mental breakdown even if he wanted to.
Heâs not one for mental breakdown but thisâŚthis was a different cause.
No.
No, no, no, no, no.
Itâs all wrong.
He refuses to back down.Â
In fact, he refuses to submit to her womanly wiles.
Jean is a strong guy, scratch that!Â
Jean is a strong man with a strong will and numerous strongly built morals. No woman can control him like heâs her personal toy just like that. He is not easily swooned or influenced by anyone. As it happens, he is guarded.
Who is she to him?Â
No one.
Exactly.
He will go to Mirabelle right this moment and act as if she had no effect on him!
Yes, there we go.
Thatâs the Jean he knew. Arrogant, reckless and the daredevil.Â
Off he goes, towards the ladies side of the camp.Â
As he makes his way, he canât lie, his heart is clutched in a fist.
Itâs the remaining effects of Mirabelle scouring his tainted mind. Itâll take time for her to be removed from his brain but time was all that was needed.Â
If not, a lobotomy will do and who better than Hange to perform it? Itâs a joke, thatâs a joke, right? Jean forces his thoughts to still. He had to do a task first and he needed his full concentration to complete it. He doesnât have time to waste.
As he inches to the tent Yelena described, he notices that Mirabelleâs lantern is one of the only ones that are turned on this late into the night.
Sheâs one of the campers that got lucky enough to have a tent to themselves. There could be a specific reason why. He softens a little, wondering what she could be doing up so late.Â
Maybe she had trauma-induced insomnia and she couldnât sleep? What if she needed someone to be by her side right now?
No, stop.
Heâs going to march in there, deliver a message, leave and assert the dominance that she took from him.
That is until he sees something strange.
Two pairs of shoes scattered outside the tent, thrown as if theyâd been discarded in a hurry. The tent entrance itself is slightly open. Warm light peeks through like a tease.Â
It beckons him to get a look at what he can through the tear of the tentâŚand halts in place.
âF-Fuck, yes~! Right there, right thereâŚâ she breathes out, âNngh~â
Jeanâs mouth runs dry.
âYouâre doing so good.â a man says, his voice low and muffled.Â
Jean is about to pass out.
It could be a mistake.
Maybe heâs seeing something wrong?
Upon closer inspection tells him otherwise.
A man kneels between Mirabelleâs parted legs. He hooks his arms under her thighs and pulls her closer to his mouth, humming against her. Piercing his nails into the fat of her skin, demonstrating for anyone watching (Jean) that she is his.
The soft amber lanterns catch her breasts in the perfect angle, sitting beautifully on her chest. Of course heâs seen the anatomical body of a woman but like this? Never in a million years would Jean think he would see it tonight.
Mirabelle grabs his unruly blonde hair, pursing her lips. Her eyes flutter shut as she tilts her head back, the curve of her body arching, abdomen meeting the manâs forehead as she pushes him in harder. A desperate cry leaves her. Itâs so velvety that Jean couldnât believe it was her making those noises.
He shouldnât be looking.
This is wrong of him.
Very wrong.
Jean is not a man, he is not moral, not strong-willed, not anything he wanted to be tonight.Â
As heâs about to turn away from the scene, seconds after accidentally looking in, Mirabelleâs head comes forward and her eyes lock with his.Â
Itâs fueled with intensity. The golden flicker of the light takes a dip in her deliberate gaze. Instead of shock, all he sees is dark, wicked amusement plastered on her face like sheâs won an award. She lets him watch, lets him bear witness to her, body moving with slow, languid precision, as though the very act of being observed excites her more. She doesnât flinch or hesitate, she. Gets. Bolder.
She smirks before tipping her head back and putting on the performance of her life, âYes, Niccolo! Iâm close, Iâm so fucking close, babyâIâm gonna, ah~!â
Jean runs.
He doesnât know where heâs going, he just knows that he has to get the fuck out of here.Â
Dashing through the dirty paths of the camp, itâs like his lungs want to jump out of his body. Heâs in flight mode
âJean?! Where are you going?!â Yelena shouts at him.
âDonât go to Mirabelleâs tent!â he warns her
She cackles as he sprints away.
Had she known? If she had, why the hell would she make him go? He shouldâve stayed in his room with damsel Conny!
After a couple minutes of running, he arrives at the rocky pools.
Far enough.
Far enough, physically.
Mentally? Never.
He leans against a rock, much taller and sturdier than he is. Itâs been a while since he had to break into a full sprint like that. He never imagined catching people fucking would be the cause of it.Â
He places his head on the rock, sweat dripping down his face and a situation to handle.
A rock hard cock under his pyjama pants.
Jeanâs heart is racing like crazy and he grabs his clamouring chest, gulping nothing but dryness down his throat. On the other hand, his cock throbs with unease. He needs to get off. His morals tell him no.Â
Fact of the matter, he doesnât really have a choice in this.
Mirabelleâs face floats into his mind, her moans, her breastsâŚ
Jean groans, sliding down the rock and hitting the hard ground with a thump.
He is so verily screwed.
He is screwed in a way that heâs never been screwed before and will probably never be screwed the way he is screwed now.
He has to do what he has to do.
Jean brings out his cock from his pants. Why wouldnât his mind just match with his dick? What is the pain in that? He wonders, is there some part of himâŚa truly, screwed up, primal side of him that likes the way heâs being treated?
Does he like her having him in control?
Is he aâŚcuck for watching them like that?!
No, no, I canât be. Not that.
Itâs her.
Itâs her long, black hair cascading in waves down her back. She tucks it behind her ear mid-conversation, focused on what the other person says. She nods, smiles and a little physical contact; usually, itâs a pat on the back or a playful hit on the shoulder.Â
Her skin is a soft radiance, captured by the core of the sun's embrace and light of the moonâs spirit.Â
Her laugh is a high-pitched melody and sounds like sheâs being possessed by a banshee half the time. Nevertheless, seeing the corners of her lips perk up at something he said makes Jean swelter.
And, her body.
God, her body.Â
A divine sculptureâthe ridges of her collarbone, the angle of her rounded shoulders and the curve of her waist; he thumbs the tip of his cock.
He canât hold back anymore, he canât stop himself from wanting her.
He wants to kiss her everywhere, appreciate her for existing as she is. Sheâs like nothing heâs seen before in a woman and thereâs nothing more heâd want than to be a part of her world.
A low moan escapes his lips.Â
Jeanâs hand travels down the shaft of his cock, pumping it slowly. Precum slips through the crack of his palm, lubricating him.Â
The throbbing takes a second to ease into his hand. As uneasiness turns into pleasure, the breeze waves into his face, washing over him.
Jean needs more.
He imagines her here.Â
He imagines her warmth.
He imagines her asking him how he got into this mess and asking him if heâd like her to take care of him. She looks up at him, sinister eyes and a grin he cannot fully comprehend. Itâs in the middle of adorably charming and shit-eating. He tells her âyesâ with a shaky breath.Â
She takes his cock in her hand.
She spits on his tip, expertly bringing it down. Because Jean knows she knows how to treat his cock.
Her lips meet his in an embrace, traces of the strawberry jam she always buys from the market, a saccharine overload in his mouth. That woman has a knack for sweet things, itâs a bad habit at this point.
So is this.
âShitââ Jean moans, biting his bottom lip.Â
He closes his eyes, a black screen providing a blank canvas for painting the horrid things he desires. No oneâs going to be roaming here at this time. Heâs free to do whatever he wants.
Then, Mirabelle climbs on top of him, her hands holding onto the blades of his shoulder like they did when he was teaching her how to use the ODM Gear. That slight squeeze and stability that she gave him was enough to send shivers down his spine.
She sinks down onto him, wrapping her arms around his neck. She grabs his hair, tugs it back just enough for Jean to let out another moan. He puts his face into her chest, hugging his arms around her whole body. There would be no sign of letting go anytime soon. Heâd keep her to his body. He would want to stay inside her as long as possible, to keep that connection as long as possible. Because if it ended, Jean would have a missing heart and a half.
Mirabelle would ride him. She bucks her hips and mewl in his ear, making it tingle. She tantalises him, softens him and bullies him. She knows how bad he wants her.
Jean would feel so fucking full inside of her and sheâd be so tight around him. Her walls surround his cock so tightly, heâs lucky he doesnât have to breathe from down there.
He pumps his cock harder, his hips coming up to meet his fistâs demand and finally, he releases.
Strings of white fly out as Jean lets go of himself, falling back on the trusty rock that was able to support him through all this.Â
His sight blurs as he peers at the cloudless sky. A billion stars just watched him pathetically imagine a girl and masturbate to it.
Itâs okay if he was pathetic.
He can be fucking pathetic for her.
What mattered more was that he wishes she was actually here doing all that to him.
â
Jean hasnât recovered.
When heâs seated at the Marleyan restaurant the next afternoon alone, thereâs an air of gloom. He has no idea what to do now.
He hasnât had much to do today, but his friends were piled with heaps to do. There wasnât room for distraction.
According to Hange, they like to give soldiers rest days so they could reset and have an actual break. They said that itâs better for them to be different from his friends. The reason being that people need breaks from people too.
Levi full disagreed with the whole concept but Hange said it was especially for Levi since his tolerance for people was at a negative. He couldnât argue with that.
It just so happens that today is Jeanâs break day and he was stuck in the Marleyan restaurant before opening (soldier benefits), eating a meal alone.
Was it bad to come to the place where Niccolo works? Maybe. But heâs sure Mirabelle wonât turn up here. She has a hundred MP meetings to attend to.
She simply has no business here.
He had successfully avoided her the whole day. He will continue to do so as a means to escape thinking about whatever the fuck happened last night.Â
The Devil herself had slithered into his dreams last night. This was after he caught Mirabelle and went to fist his cock by the pools. He woke up rock hardâno pun intended.Â
You can imagine how scrambled his mind, heart and dick are right now.
Jean was extremely lucky that Conny sleeps like a log or else he knew he wouldnât hear the end of that. What if it got to Mirabelle?
Double kill.
Anyways, he had avoided her the whole day and treating himself during the restaurantâs close before dinner openings was the best way to go about his day. If he stayed in his tent the whole day, he wouldâve gone crazy.
He may have done something he wasnât supposed to.
Although there arenât any chefs running around (they gotta take breaks too!), heâs able to control himself in a public space. There was that to applaud amongst this mess.
âWell, well, well,â someone says from behind him, lightly stroking his back, âIf it isnât Peeping Tom.â
Jean freezes against the touch. Time itself stops.
She swivels around to meet his face, fingers still on his back.Â
He isnât imagining her here, this isnât a dream, sheâs really here.
Jean chokes on his lobster. So hard that he doubles over his plate.
âOh no, you poor thing.â she utters.
Mirabelle grabs the jug of water, pours it into Jeanâs empty glass. He reaches out to take it from her. She doesnât meet him halfway. Instead, she drinks the water.
Jean gulps down the cough and stares at her.
She laughs, âHere. Drink it.â
Mirabelle presses the glass against his lips.Â
Jeanâs on autopilot, he tilts his head back and lets her feed him the drink.Â
Then, she sets the drink down and stares at him a second too long.Â
He doesnât know what to do, what to say, how to process this and he can feel himself slowly getting hard again.
Sheâs done nothing, absolutely nothing and heâs wordlessly done for.
She reaches out and cups one side of his face, wiping a stray water drop from his face.Â
She punctures into his gaze and every wall he tries to set up for himself. It turns into paper and finds his real self, putting it up for display.
âSuch a pretty face.â she mumbles.
And then, before you know it, she drops his face and leaves the restaurant.
MIRABELLE WINDRIDER POV
âThatâs absolutely outrageous!â Onyankopon cries, shooting up from his seat. He slams his hands on the table for effect.Â
I roll my eyes for what must be the hundredth time and yank him from the back of his blazer. He falls flatly on his armchair. The stress lines on his forehead aged him by twenty years.
The meeting room is silent but the faces of the MPs are tumultuous with worry. Itâs not every day the Onyankopon breaks out in a frenzy. Heâs easygoing for the most part.
I wish I could tell you why he burst out. Unfortunately, Iâve lost track of what the meeting was about. Itâs some minute detail in the overarching plan.
When I agreed to go to all these boring meetings, what Iâd been doing was dragging his ass back down and mediating the arguments that were happening. Iâm only here for his comfort and support of these meetings.
Iâm a perfect middleman.
I have to say, Paradis Island makes compelling insights. Yelena and Onyankopon do too. However, being the middleman, I have to take in consideration what is the best and causes the least harm and sometimes, both sides donât seem to consider this as an option.
I appreciate my comrades for their work ethics. Theyâre more than comrades, theyâre friends and if this makes their lives easier here in the meeting rooms, Iâll do it.
âLetâs take a break and resume later.â Pyxis instructs at last, âWe need it.â
Thereâs no arguing there.
Everyone scours from the room, leaving Onyankopon and I alone.
âCan I bring you some water?â I ask gently.
The man is looking at his lap blankly.
Finally, he sighs, âNo thank you. I would like to be left alone though. If thatâs okay.â
âSure.â I reply, standing up, âCollect your thoughts and we can talk again before the meeting. Iâll go take a breather too.â
âOkay.â he responds dryly.
I start heading towards the door.
âMirabelle.â Onyankopon calls.
âYeah?â
âThank you, â he tells me, âI appreciate that.â
I smile, âLove you.â
â...love you too.â
Leaving the room, I head down many flights of stairs of the Mitrasâ parliament building. I bid my respects to Queen Historia, who is visiting for a council meeting of her own and step out into the chilly night air.Â
Thereâs something about todayâs air that makes it so special. The wind flirts with my hair, winding its way through the seams of my clothing.
To think this meeting was going to take my whole day? I was not expecting that.Â
I do hope Onyankopon is alright though. This is a lot of stress for one person to take. I want to help my friends. The only way I can do that is take on more, study more and morph into a soldier. Thereâs only so much the Marleyans can do here with our restrictions and such.
At least Paradis has a whole army, weâre on our own out here. I donât know whatâs going on half the time. Iâm here because I hate Marley and this was a chance to go against them.Â
Iâve seen enough to prove that it is not an adequate place to live in. Especially as someone who worked close to politicians. Greed, hatred and sin, committed again and again with no remorse entailing their actions.
Thatâs not what I want to be a part of.
Assassination used to be a way to make money as someone coming from a low-income family and had to survive. I had to kill to surviveâisnât that ironic?
Itâs time for me to put that behind me and turn a new leaf.
There is real happiness rooted in this island.
Coming here, Iâve realised the difference.
Iâve met it through my new friends, new life andâŚJean.
âMirabelle.â
I swivel around.
It is no one but him.Â
Heâs standing under a streetlight like a full force manifestation of my thoughts. Slightly perplexed, a little untidy from the dayâs labour but all in all, Jean.
âI was just thinking about you.â
The way we meet these days is starting to not come off as surprises anymore. Itâs almost as if thereâs this small part of myself that expects him there.
âWhat?â he asks, raising an eyebrow.
âYeah. What are you doing here?â
âIâŚâ he begins and drops his head, deeming the stoned ground more interesting than me, âI was just finishing up here, I was about to head back, actually.â
âHm, must be fate,â I say, linking my arm around his. He flinches, âIs this okay?â
âYes.â he answers, a little more confidently than I know heâs feeling right now.Â
A simple touch must break his insides indefinitely. So I innocently smile, squeezing his arm closer to my face. His arm is tough and plush at the same time, telling me that thereâs a good amount of muscle but soft enough for a lady to lay her cheek on.
âShall we?â I ask, nodding towards the empty street, âI donât have much time.â
âOkay.âÂ
We walk down the moonlit street in Wall Sina.Â
I can feel tension in Jeanâs strides. Every step that hits the ground is rough and not fully taken before he takes the other one. Heâs not walking fast but thereâs an impatience to the way he does this time around.Â
He doesnât walk like thisâhe usually takes confident, full steps. Itâs enough to tell me heâs still awkward from that.
Itâs been a few days since Jean walked in on me and Niccolo.Â
Jeanâs presence was nothing out of the ordinary. It was right for him to be there, to watch me and wish it was him that was between my legs like that.Â
I, for one, do wish that.Â
Since he zeroed in on me like that, Iâve never wanted anything more.Â
Iâd take it so slow, nice and slow, fuck into him until he eases into my body and can take over. Thereâs nothing hotter than a man who lets me take the lead in the bedroom.
Niccolo doesnât do that.Â
Heâs controlling, demanding and can barely make me cum.
I have to clear this up with Jean first.Â
I donât want this to get in between us.
It could start something new thoughâŚ
âAbout that night.â I say as we stop under a streetlight, âNiccolo and I arenât together. Like, at all. Heâs an ex.â
It flickers, a constant struggle to seize the light, only for it to evade at every attempt.
âIâm so sorry. I didnât mean to walk into you and him. Yelena wanted me to get youââ
âNo.â I interrupt firmly, âI know you like me and you liked what you saw.â
He unwinds his arm from mine, looking anywhere but at my face.
âIââ
He slowly backs up.
âYouâve felt that way from the start.â I continue, walking towards him, âItâs written all over your face. On the first night, in the carriage, when you walked in on me and, look, even now. Why canât you just admit it?â
He hits the pillar of some desolate luxury motel, broad shoulders taking up the entire distance of it. Despite that, thereâs this deniance furrowing in his eyebrows that Iâm slowly starting to dislike. It was cute at the start but I need him to own up to it, own up to it like a man.
â...Mirabelle.âÂ
What bullshit.
âJean.â I state, looking up at him, âI want to fuck you so bad that it hurts.â
Like magic, the streetlight turns on. A gentle buzz maintains as I search his face. Red blossoms on his cheekbones but no words draw from his mouth.
âThere you are, Mirabelle!â someone calls me.
Pyxis is in the distance, waving at me, âWe oughta get going. The meeting is resuming soon.â
Talk about horrible timing.
âRight behind ya, baldie.â I reciprocate his wave.
Pyxis walks back towards the building and I turn back at Jean one last time.Â
One last chanceâŚandâŚnothing.
I give up.
âComing, Mirabelle:?â Pyxis calls.
âYes!â
I walk away from what could have been.

Summary: Jean never believed in love at first sight, it wasnât until she appeared on his life
Notes: This is a story that has been on my drafts for over a year now, and I decided to finish it as a goodbye to one of my favorite characters, Jean Kirstein.
Materialist
Months passed by and no info about Eren was found. It was like he disappeared completely. While they searched for him they also investigated Marley and the world, that was the mission they had until some news from Eren came.
As usual Jean woke up early in the morning, he went to the kitchen of the apartment he was staying in, none of the group were staying in the same place but they were close to each other just in case. He prepared himself the usual breakfast and once he was done, he went to buy the newspaper. It was something he always did, that way he could recollect information for the group. He walked down the streets of the city, it was early in the morning so there weren't a lot of people around, just the ones on their way to their work.
He arrived at the store where he always bought the newspaper. He smiled at the owner and paid for it. He starts walking to a nearby coffee shop, so he can get coffee while reading the newspaper. Thatâs until he bumps into a girl, way smaller than her, and she falls to the floor. Jean looks at her and tries to help her stand but, she is faster, and pulls Jean to her and stamps her lips against his.
Jean doesnât move and his eyes are wide open. He hears some people running behind them, searching for someone. Thatâs when the girl separates from him and looks around. Once she makes sure no one is around, she tries to run away once again.
âHey!â Jean stops her. She tries to free her but Jean is way stronger. âHey! Stop!â
And she stopped. âWhat?â She said with an angry look, looking at Jean.
âWhat? You just bumped into me and then kissed me. And now you want to leave without any explanations?â He said looking at her and crossing his arms.
âYes, any problem big boy?â Jean smirked, she really is something.
âThose people⌠were searching for you?â He said pointing to the direction where they went.
She looked in that direction. âWhy do you care?â
âWell⌠maybe I can help you.â
âYou already did that.â She said and tried to leave but Jean grabbed her once again. âYou donât know me⌠so why do you care so much?â
âBecause⌠maybe I donât know your situation but you seem desperate and maybe I can help you.â
She laughed. âIf you knew what I am you wouldnât be here, you wouldnât be touching me or you wouldnât even want to breathe the same air as me.â
Jean didnât respond this time, something clicks in his head. Could she be a eldian too? So those people probably knew about her being an eldian and were trying to catch her and who knows what to do to her. This makes his blood boil, why itâs the outside world like this with them? He comes back to his senses, just to find that she is gone.
âDamn it!â He started Ăą walking trying to find her but she is gone. Just like she appeared, she is gone.
Frustrated, he started walking back home. He really hoped the girl would be okay.
âJean!â He heard his name being shouted by no other than the two most scandalous people on earth.
âYou two really canât keep a low profile, donât you?â
Both made a sad face. âCâmon Jean boy, donât be mad.â
âDonât call me that!â
âNow who is making a scene?â Asks Sasha laughing.
Jean lets out a sigh and keeps walking, followed by Connie and Sasha who are talking about going to the cinema, since finding out about it the whole group has been fascinated with it. The three of them arrived at the place where they usually met to talk about the things that they learned. The rest were already there, so they all sit around the table to talk. The reunion ends up with not much info or new clues.
âYou seemed distracted.â Armin said. âYou didnât say a word during the whole time. Whatâs on your head Jean?â
âItâs nothing Armin, I was just tired.â
âYou went out last night again? You know that if captainâŚâ
âNo, I didnât.â
âHey man. You know that if something is going on, you can talk. Right?âJean nods and drinks from his coffee cup.
âJean, are you coming to the cinema tonight?â Asked Connie.
âYeah⌠sure why not?â
âBrats remember to be careful.â Captain Levi spoke looking at the group.
The whole group nodded after hearing their captain's order. It was early to go to the cinema, so they decided to hang out and enjoy their time together, pretending to be normal and not soldiers from the devils of the island. The five of them were on a bar drinking and enjoying the day. It really seemed like nothing changed, like they were still in their cadets day. Like all their commanders were still alive. It was nice, it was warm to see them happy, thatâs what Jean was thinking while looking at his friends.
âOi Jean!!â Screamed Connie into his ear.
âAre you dumb or something?!â
âI have been calling for you for the last 5 minutes.â Jean rolled his eyes.
âWhat do you want?â
âAsk for another round!â He said, raising his glass.
âConnie, if you keep drinking you want to be alright to watch the film.â Spoke Armin this time.
âCâmon Armin! We are young! Letâs enjoy ourselves! Right girls?â He said looking at Mikasa and Sasha, who until a few moments ago they were talking with each other.
âYes, let's go, Armin!â Sasha screamed this time and Mikasa laughed at her friend's reactions.
Armin sighted, knowing it was a lost battle. âAlright, letâs have another round. Jean couldâŚâ
âSure, I will buy another round.â He said standing and going to ask for another round. âThe same asâŚâ
âDisgusting eldian!â A man shouted, the whole group froze in place. âIâm calling the police! They have been searching for you right?â
Jean turned around to look at the place where everything was happening. There she was, the girl from the morning.
âIs she one of the devils?â A woman asked.
âYes, this morning police were chasing her, and now she was trying to buy something here at my shop, pretending to be one of us!â
People started surrounding her and calling her disgusting names. Jean clenched his fists and tried to go to her.
âJean⌠what are you doing?â Said Armin while holding him by the arm.
âWe canât leave her, she needs help!
âWe canât. If we do something they will suspect us.â Sasha spoke this time.
âI canât do that! SorryâŚâ He said ignoring his friends.
He was being selfish, he was putting all his friends in danger and for what? For a girl that he met that same morning. What was he thinking? I must be going crazy. He pushed some people aside, to get where she was.
âYou think a garbage like you, can keep escaping?! Oh no! You will go back to where you belong! Stupid slut!â The man said, grabbing her by the hair.
âPlease⌠stopâŚâ She said with hot tears rolling down her face.
âNo you beg for merâŚâ Jean didnât really think before punching the man in the face.
People gasped in shock and the face of his friends went completely blank.
âYouâŚâ The man said. âWho do you think you are?â
âI hope you can run. Because we are leaving right now.â Jean whispered to the girl, who stood next to Jean.
âHey! Iâm talking to you! Why are you defending that evil?â The man shouted. âDonât tell me⌠you are also one of them?â
Jean grabbed her hand tightly, she looked at him. âNow!â
And both started running, as fast they could, ignoring anyone that shouted for them to stop. They kept running for a little while more, until it was safe no one was following them. Jean stopped and tried to catch his air again. He looked at her and saw her down on her knees facing the floor. She looked so small, fragile, different to that same morning.
âHey.â Jean kneeled in front of her. âYou okay?â
No response came from her, she didnât even look at him. Jean sighted and stood back, looking around once again, making sure no one was near.
âWe need toâŚâ
âWhy did you help me?â Her voice came out, almost as a whisper. âNow,âŚ. Now youâll be in danger because you helped me.â
âBecause I wanted to.â Jean said, looking at her.
âBecause you wanted to?â She stood facing him. âAre you completely insane?!â
âMaybe I am but what I did, itâs my problem.â He got closer to her. âNow, come with me. We need to treat those wounds you have.â He said touching her cheek where there was a wound.
âI can treat myself.â She said, moving away from his touch. âYou donât have to do anything more for me.â Jean rolled his eyes.
âYou know what?â He said, focusing his eyes on her once again. âI donât care, you are coming with me, Iâm treating that wound of yours, then you will take a shower and eat something. You get it?â
âBut⌠youâre so stubborn.â She said pressing her lips together, making a thin line. âWhat if youâre a pervert?â
âWould you believe me if I said Iâm not?â
âNo.â
âThen you will have to trust me. I wonât do anything to you, I just want you to be okay. Thatâs all.â
âYou donât even know my name. Why are you doing this?â
âBecause itâs the right thing to do.â Then he looked at the left. âHe would have done the same.â His words came out as whispered, difficult to hear but she did hear them.
She remained silent, looking now at his back. Why is he really helping me? She wondered.
She ended up accepting, because it really seems like he is worried and wants to help her. They both walk side by side, going through the less crowded streets to avoid suspicious people. None of them says anything, he just keeps walking, being followed by her. They both walked for a few more minutes until they arrived at the building where they entered. He must live here.
âYou can make yourself comfortable.â He says letting her enter the place.
She nods and enters, the place feels comfortable and warm.
âI will go for the things to treat your cheek⌠you can take whatever you want from the kitchen.â He says pointing to the kitchen.
âThank youâŚâ She said and before he leaves she warns him. âAnd donât forget, I wonât hesitate on killing you if you try something.â
He laughs and leaves the room. That girlâŚ
âCaptain Levi is going to kill me after he finds out what I did.â He spoke to himself while searching for the stuff. âFuck, I really fucked up this time.â He sighed and grabs the kit from the shelves.
Jean made his way back to the living room and there she is, sleeping.
âI canât believe her.â He whispered with a smile on his face. âYou really fall asleep in a strangers place?â He sayid knowing no one will answer him.
He gets closer to her and looks at her face. She looks so peaceful like that. He shook those thoughts out of it.
âHey stubborn girl.â He shook her.
She woke up startled and ready to punch him on the face. If it wasnât because Jean had fast reflexes, he wouldâve probably ended up with a purple eye.
âHey! Easy.â Jean said, still holding her hand.
âShit.â She said and took her away from Jeanâs. âI fell asleep⌠fuck.â She whispered.
âItâs okay. You looked tired anyways.â Jean tried to calm her down.
âItâs not okay⌠I was reckless and I shouldnât get so comfortable with someone I donât know.â
âMy name is Jean.â
âWhy are you telling me your name?â
âYou said you didnât know me, well Iâm introducing myself.â He gave her a faint smile.
âStill⌠you couldâŚâ
âI could what? Listen, Iâm not going to give you in alright?â
âI⌠I can not believe that, you marleians, you lie so easily. You probably made a call when I fell asleep and the police are already coming for me.â She stood and started walking around the room.
Jean could see how her body was shaking from fear of the possible outcomes. He knew that telling her his real identity was risky, hell it was so fucking risky but he needed to tell her. Jean stood from the sofa and took her by the arm, making her stop walking. The stubborn, angry, defensive girl was nowhere to be seen at that moment, everything Jean could see right there was a scary, vulnerable girl.
âPlease⌠I know I was rude and an asshole. But let me go⌠I⌠I need to go back home, please.â She started to silently cry. âI swear I will never come back, you will never see me again. I swear but please let me go.â
âHey please calm down.â Jean tried to comfort her. âIâm not turning you in. I am⌠I am also an Eldian okay?â
She looked at him, shocked. What was he saying? No no no no if he was an eldian too, it meant he was also risking his life? Why? Why?
âHey.â Jean spoke again. âStop overthinking.â
âWhy would you do what you did, you idiot?â She said and punched him on the chest.
âHere she is again.â
âDonât laugh, why are you laughing idiot. Youâre fucking risking your life for a stranger like me. I donât understand, I truly donât. Is it because I kissed you? Youâre one of those perverts? But fuck⌠if they find out not only you are helping me but that you are also an Eldian, they will kill you and all because of me⌠Again, itâs happening again.â
Jean saw how something broke on her after the last sentence. She fell to the floor, crying and repeating, itâs happened again, again. He didnât know what to do, he wanted to make her feel safe, to make her understand that nothing was going to happen to her or him, that whatever she was thinking was not going to happen. He kneeled in front of her and embraced her, she tensed at first but then she continued sobbing into his chest.
âIâm sorryâŚâ Jean heard her whisper.
âListen, angry girl. Nothing is going to happen to me or to you. I promise.â
âDonât do thatâŚâ She said. âDonât make promises you wonât be able to keep. Please.â She looked at him, still with tears rolling down her face.
âI will try my best to keep the promiseâŚâ He said, whipping her tears away. âNow, let me treat your wound.â
She nodded and sat next to Jean on the sofa. Jean put the kit on the table and took out the necessary stuff he needed to treat her wound. He had treated thousands of wounds since he joined the survey corps years ago, he knew how to do it but this time was afraid of hurting her. The wound wasnât really that big but still he didnât want her to suffer anymore. Once he was done he put everything back on the bag and turned around to look at her once again. Her eyes were still red and so was her nose.
âYou want to eat something?â
âNo. I really need to leave and go back home.â She said not looking at Jean.
âItâs already dark outside, it will be dangerous if someone sees you alone at night.â
âItâs⌠itâs okay, it wouldnât be the first time I sneak out in the middle of the night.â
Jean thought for a moment. âI will go with you.â
âWait⌠no no, you already did enough.â She stood following Jeanâs footsteps. âYou saved my ass twice today and youâre an Eldian too, it would be dangerous if a police stopped us and they asked us for our documents. We would beâŚâ
âHey.â He turned around and looked at her eyes. âTrust me okay? It will be alright, I will take you home, safe and sound.â
She stayed silent, observing each one of his movements and trying to understand why that man, named Jean and an Eldian like her, was helping her. No Eldian is willing to help another one if it means risking the little freedom they have and yet, the man she had in front of her was risking everything for her, someone who was an asshole that treated him poorly since the first minutes their destinies crossed paths.
âFor more that I try to understand, I just canât comprehend why are you doing all this.â
âMaybe you enchanted me with that kiss.â Jean passed next to her with a smirk on his face.
âNow youâre flirting? Is that what you want from me? To fuck me?â She angrily asked.
âWait no no no no.â Jean shook his head. âDonât get me wrong okay? Itâs true that I couldnât get the kiss out of my head, because it took me by surprise but Iâm not doing this because I want to fuck you. Iâm doing this because I think you desperately need someone to give you a hand. Iâm sorry if that made you feel uncomfortable.â
âOkay⌠sorry itâs just that⌠itâs not easy.â
âTo trust someone?â
âYeahâŚâ
âI understand but try to trust me okay.â She nodded, still hesitant but with a feeling in her chest that made her believe his words. âOkay, put this on, it will be cold outside and like that we can cover you up, so those assholes donât recognize you.â He grabbed the jacket and gave it to her, it smelled like him. âIt looks gigant on you.â
âMaybe because youâre like two meters tall?â She said looking at the jacket and then at him.
âAlmost two meters.â She rolled her eyes and tried to hide the smile on her face.
âIdiotâŚâ
âYou know, you can call me by my name, Jean. And by the way, you still haven't told me yours.â
âThatâs right but Iâm not telling you. Not yet.â
âAnd what should I call you then?â He tilted his head.
She was about to respond when a knock on the door made her freeze. She could feel her whole body trembling. Did he lie to you? It was the police, he called them?
âLook at me.â And she did, those honey eyes were looking at her and for some reason she knew right there, that he didnât call them, that he didnât lie and that she could believe him. âItâs probably my neighbor, so donât worry, okay?â She nodded and watched him walk to the door.
She saw how he smiled to the person on the other side of the door and how politely talked to them.
âJean, I heard a woman's voice earlier, are you finally settling down?â Jean laughed, he wished he could but in his position it was impossible.
âItâs not like that Miss Aldrich.â
âCâmon! Let me meet the girl.â Jean tried to stop her.
âMiss Aldrich I donât think thatâs a good idea, sheâŚâ Câmon Jean think about something.
âOh I get it, yeah you two were having fun, alright Jean boy, I will leave you. Hopefully this old building will soon have new people.â And she left.
Jean sighed in relief, he loved Miss Aldrich and was a good woman but he couldnât risk anything at that moment.
âBee.â Jean heard from the other side of the room.
âWhat?â
âCall me Bee.â
Jean nodded at Bee and she gave him a faint smile. Bee didnât know why she was willing to tell him her name but something inside her told her to do it, that it was okay.
âOkay, Bee. We should get going, so you can go back home.â Bee looked at him, he was offering his hand. âIt will be easier if we pretend that we are a couple, if they stop us I will just show my ID.â
âBut youâŚâ She wanted to tell him if he was insane, if he lost his mind. But Jean winked an eye at her, making her heart race.
âI have a fake one, donât worry, okay?â
âOkayâŚâ
Bee held his hand and they both got out of the apartment. Jean held her tightly but gently, afraid of hurting her, afraid of someone taking her away. They needed to be careful, but the night was already coming so it was going to be easier for them to go unnoticed.
They walked the streets, like a normal couple would do, not making themselves notice. It wouldnât be true to say Jeanâs heart wasnât racing like crazy, he was nervous about the possibility of getting caught and holding Beeâs hand wasnât something that was helping. He couldnât deny that she was beautiful, breathtaking to be more exact. But he couldnât think about her that way, no, he needed to take her to her home and then hope she would be able to live a normal life, while he kept searching for Eren. Thatâs what was going to happen and they wouldnât see each other anymore.
Bee moved beside Jean, guiding him in the direction of her house. From time to time she would look at him, he was serious, looking around, making sure no one would come for her and not letting her hand go. It made her feel secure, protected, something she hadnât felt in a very long time. It almost made her cry in that instant.
Both of them kept walking for a little longer, leaving the most crowded streets behind, almost leaving the city behind. Bee stopped when they reached a small neighborhood, with old houses and almost no light.
âItâs hereâŚâ She said letting Jeanâs hand go, feeling emptiness when she did it.
âOhâŚâ Jean looked around and nodded. âAlrightâŚâ he swallowed.
âI guess⌠it's a goodbye.â
âI guess so.â Jean played with his feet. âAre you sure you will be alright?â He looked at her with worried eyes.
Bee swallowed and blinked, trying not to throw herself to him and cry saying that nothing would be alright, that she was afraid and ask him again why everyone viewed them as monsters, why couldnât see feel safe like she did with him. But she didnât and she simply smiled at him.
âI will be. Thank you again.â
Jean nodded and they both stayed looking at each. Jean knew he should turn around and walk away, forget about her, forget about that whole day, go back to his life but something wasnât letting him move, he couldnât, he didnât want to move away.
âI think⌠I will be heading home.â She whispered and started to walk away.
âWait!â Jean held her hand and made her turn around. âIf you⌠if you ever need anything, just look out for me okay?â She nodded. âJean Kirstein.â
âI will Jean. Thank youâŚâ
And with that, they both walked away, with a heavy heart and the feeling of a missing piece on it. They met for less than 24 hours but none of them wanted to leave each other. Bee for a moment considered going back to him, asking him to take her away from that place, for them to pretend they were monsters but she couldnât do that to someone she hardly knew but desperately wanted to know. Jean on the other hand, would have everything for her, for a girl that cornered him, the girl that was so stubborn, the girl that despite looking so strong was so broken, if she only asked to.
But they didnât say anything and they both saw each other for the last time that night. Bee kept surviving and trying not to get caught, while Jean kept searching for Eren and distracting himself so he wouldnât think about her.
*シăďžď˝Ľ*:.・..・.:*シ'シ*:.・. .・.:*シăďžď˝Ľ*
It was April, Jeanâs birthday, thinking about it he never thought he would make it to his 20s after joining the survey corps. But there he was in a small bar near the refugee camp with Connie, drinking beer and chatting. After the Rumbling and everything falling apart live has been going too fast, it seemed like they couldnât stop for a single moment, the attack on Liberio, then the rumbling, then helping those who were still alive, try to find peace. Hell they didnât even properly mourn Sasha, Hange or even Eren, like they deserved, back then. He didnât even have time to try and reach his mom and let her know that he was alright. He even thought about Bee, did she make it through the rumbling? Was she saved?
Although he met her for less than 24 hours, her memory was still on his head and he wished he could see her once again, at least to know she was okay.
He turned around to look at Connie, who was heavily drunk and dancing, although there was no music on. Jean smirked, he was grateful he had Connie with him and to have these stupid moments with him.
âCâmon Connie, letâs go home.â Jean stood and held Connieâs arm.
âWhy? Câmon Jeanboy! Itâs your birthday! You are entering your 20s, letâs celebrate it!â Connie went to the dance floor once again, ignoring Jean and forgetting about everything.
Jean sat back on his seat and sighed looking at his best friend. It was good that at least Connie was enjoying himself, but it was going to be a pain in the ass bringing him back home.
He simply stayed there, looking at his best friend, while with each drink he wandered in his thoughts. Two hours later they were kicked out of the place. Jean didn't think he was completely drunk, but his head hurt and he knew that tomorrow would be a hard day. He grabbed Connie's arm and dragged him to the place they now called home.
âYou seemed to need help.â A female voice spoke, while Jean was trying to open the door.
âItâs okay, I can do it.â Jean responded without looking at the woman standing next to him.
âLet me help you.â She said and took Jeanâs keys from his hands. âI own you one.â She whispered.
Jean blinked, trying to focus his gaze on the woman but he couldn't, everything was double for him.
âI donât think⌠I donât know.â
âItâs okay Jean⌠hopefully tomorrow you will feel better.â Jean saw how she started to walk away. âIâm glad youâre alive Jean.â
And with that the woman went away, leaving Jean confused and with Connie already sleeping on the floor. He moved him and started walking to their dorms, kicking Connie into his dorm and letting him fall on the couch. He covered his face with his arms, trying to make the headache stop but it was useless. He once again tried to think about the woman, tried to remember her face, but it was impossible, his vision had been too blurry, but something in her voice had seemed familiar. Jean finally fell asleep on the couch and it wasn't until the next morning that he woke up due to Armin waking him up.
âYou should try and sleep on your own bed.â Was the first thing Armin had told him.
âMhmm⌠I know mom.â Jean grunted, scratching the back of his neck. âFuck my head hurts.â
âNo wonder why, you and Connie had some fun last night.â He said, giving him a cup of water.
âNot every day you turn 20 you know?â Jean drank from the cup.
âA woman asked me about you.â Armin walked to the kitchen.
Jean blinked and stood up, following him. âA woman?â
âYeah⌠she asked me about you this morning.â
âShe told you her name or something?â
âNo, just asked me if I knew you.â Armin shrugged. âDid you hook up with a woman? Jean we are on diplomaticâŚâ
âWait what? No. No I havenât hooked up withâŚâ
âJean hooked up with someone?â Connie appeared in the kitchen.
âConnie⌠you were literally sticking your tongue inside on everyoneâs mouth last night.â
âHey! Donât expose me like that bro.â Connie cried.
Jean rolled his eyes. âWhere did you see her?â Said looking back at Armin.
âOn the market, she was shopping.â
Jean nodded and without a word he left, he started walking across the streets, looking for the girl he met in Liberio. It had to be her, it had to be Bee, she survived and she was there, looking for him. Jean kept walking, looking everywhere, but who assured him that Bee would still be in that market? He reached the end of the market without any success, sighed and ruffled his hair in frustration. He turned around and started walking in the direction of his house. Maybe today was not the day he was supposed to run into Bee, but they were both in that place so at some point they would meet.
âHey big boy!â Jean stopped walking. âAre you sober already?â
Jean turned around and there she was. âBeeâŚâ His feet started to move on their own and when he realized he was embracing Bee in his arms.
âWow big boy, careful. You are much bigger than me.â She laughed.
âIâm sorry⌠Iâm.â He broke the hug and looked at her. She was still beautiful. âYouâre alive.â
âI am and so are you.â She smiled. âI heard you are some kind of hero.â
âI wouldnât call it that. But⌠Bee Iâm so glad to see you are okay. IâŚâ
âMe too. I saw you a few weeks ago and felt so relieved, strange isnât it? We met for less than 24 hours and only knew each other's names but somehow, I couldnât keep you out of my mind and when the whole rumbling happened, I prayed to meet you again⌠Oh god, you must think Iâm crazy or something.â
âNo, no, I mean, I kinda felt the same and⌠maybe now we could get to know each other better. Grab some coffee or tea or whatever you want, I donât mind. And only if you want of course.â
âJean, are you flirting?â She raised an eyebrow without hiding her smile.
âI mean⌠maybe? Would you be bothered if I did?â
âNo.â She shook her head. âCoffee sounds good.â
âGood. Should we go now or are you busy?â
âNow itâs alright.â She started walking.
They both started walking side by side, slowly and enjoying the sun of the day and each otherâs company and presence. Jean was beyond excited and happy, to know she was okay and that she seemed happy, despite the whole world went to shit. He didnât regret hugging her right after seeing her for the first time, he really needed to do it and it just felt right.
He never believed in those stories of someone falling in love with another one at first sight, he used to think it was unreal and stupid. That was until that day in Liberio, after weeks passed by he tried convincing himself that his stupid self only felt like that because Bee stole his first kiss, but as much as he wanted to believe it was because of the kiss that she was still on his head, he couldnât. He really fell for her just by seeing her and spending some hours with her.
âIs this place okay for you?â She pointed.
âYeah⌠itâs okay.â He nodded.
And they both sat on one of the tables of the coffee shop, Each one ordered something to drink and waited in silence until it was brought to them. Bee watched through the window at the people passing by, from one side to the other, while Jean looked at her profile and admired her beauty. He was thankful that none of her friends were around her, otherwise she knew she would have them making fun of her for days.
âSo⌠how, how did you get out?â Bee turned to look at Jean after hearing his voice. âI mean, away from the rumbling.â
âOh⌠it wasnât easy but after that weird message, something inside of me told me we had to get the hell out of there. So we took the last train that was leaving, most people werenât eldians so they had no clue what was going on, so it was easy to sneak into one of them. After that, when the⌠the titans started to show up, I prayed to be safe and we were saved. A couple of weeks later we ended up here and thatâs it.â
âYou said we, you weren't alone?â
âNo, my nephew was with me.â She drank her coffee. âItâs just me and her now.â
âOh, Iâm sorry.â
âDonât be, if it wasnât because you saved me that day from those people I wouldnât have been able to go back home to her.â She smiled.
âIt was nothing, really.â He shook his head. âIâm glad, both of you are okay. I need to know something, why did you risk yourself back then?â
âWhat do you mean?â
âWhen you kissed me to get away from those policemen.â
âOh that.â She looked down and smiled. âSomething told me it had to be you. I guess it was right after all.â
Bee and Jean continued talking for hours, about everyday things, Jean told her about Paradise and Bee told her about her niece, her sister. Even when Bee had to leave to look for her niece, Jean accompanied her and continued listening to each of her stories carefully, without missing any detail of what Bee told her. Upon arriving at the school where Bee's niece was, Jean stood in front of her and took a breath.
âWould you go out with me?â Jean slowly spoke, meeting her gaze. âAs a date, I mean.â
Bee's heart skipped a beat and she felt butterflies fluttering in her stomach. His honey gaze made her nervous and those words were making her even more nervous. With Jean she had felt security, protection and tranquility, but she knew there had been something more and her heart beat for it, she had liked him a lot. Very much. But the thought of never even seeing him again or anything happening between them had long since disappeared. Until a week ago she saw him again and her heart raced again like that time in her apartment. Bee licked her lips and looked first at her worn shoes and then at Jean's gaze. Maybe this was the destiny telling her that finally she was going to be happy.
âI would love to.â She smiled and so did Jean.

The Letters She Wrote
Jean Kirstein x OC - post-canon Attack on Titan [picrew used] Chapter 3 "Lover Boy" preview:
Edith,
Your constant letters are a pain in the ass. I canât believe you expect me to read all that shit when Iâm up at the ass crack of dawn every damn day, training for hours, and then I can barely make it to my bed before I pass out.
I told you not to write to me every day and this is exactly why.
But fine.
If you have to, you can do it. Just donât expect a reply from me all that often! Iâm busy!
Trainingâs fine. I made a friend named Marco. He knows a lot about plants, so heâd probably know what those pink flowers are.Â
The food here is shit so if you could figure out how to mail a pie, thatâd be nice.Â
Iâm tired, so thatâs all you get from me. Bye.
-Jean
Edith giggled to herself as she read over his letter three times, rolling around on her bed as she did it. Her fingers traced over his name at the bottom, smiling at the messy way he signed it. She wondered if he wrote it late at night. Or maybe early in the morning. Or even if it had been between training sessions. She wondered if, in the month Jean had been gone, heâd changed at all or if he was still the exact same as when heâd left.
Hopefully, heâd tell her about it in his next letter. Hopefully, heâd tell her about everything.
âShould I write him back?â Edith asked, turning to the cat that was half asleep on her bed. He offered her a lazy meow in response, which left Edith giggling. âI agree, Grim. I think I should too. I told him I would, didnât I?â
She grabbed a piece of paper and her pen and wrote his name in swirly letters that made her smile.
And for the next five years, thatâs what she did.
For the next five years, Edith Prewitt wrote Jean Kirstein a letter.
Every.
  Single.
    Day.
Until one dayâŚÂ
she didnât.

Jean & Edith in "The Letters She Wrote" chapter 3
Edith came to a sudden halt at the corner of the canal, now out of space to run, as the ferry continued forward and the distance between them grew. Her hands cupped over her mouth to ensure that Jean heard her: âYOU BETTER MARRY ME WHEN YOU COME HOME, JEAN KIRSTEIN!!â
Jeanâs face flushed bright pink as a few people around him snickered. âWHY WOULD I DO THAT!?â He yelled back.
âYOU PROMISED!â
âI DIDÂ NOTÂ PROMISE!!â
âTHEN PROMISE RIGHT NOW!â
âNO!â
âPROMISE ME YOUâLL MARRY ME, JEAN!!â
Thank you so much boomshizzy for gifting me this art OUT OF NOWHERE???? This is one of my favourite scenes in the whole fic and you captured it PERFECTLY!
